I can not believe that April is almost over, although judging by the snow showers the last few days you could well be forgiving for thinking that it was still winter and not spring! As April is now drawing to an end I thought that I would once again write about the things that I had loved from the month gone by like I did last month, a way to help me get back into thinking positive again after suffering badly with pnd last year.
So here is a few of the things that I have loved in April.
1.) Ox Pasture Hall. We were lucky enough to be invited to stay at the beautiful Ox Pasture Hall hotel near Scarborough. We had such a lovely time as it was the perfect place to relax in the peaceful Yorkshire countryside, the hotel was beautiful and the food delicious. It was also the first time myself and my other half have actually had a night away together in almost three years! It was so nice to spend time together without the constant interruption from our little ones.
2.) York. We had a lovely family day out to York over the Easter holidays. It was the first time we had taken the little two on a train and we had a great day. I adore York as it is such a beautiful historic city and it was nice to visit as a family as we don't get much family time together as we are all so busy. This was a nice day out that I am sure we will all remember for a long time.
3.) Easter Holidays. I loved having my girls off for the Easter holiday's, it was so nice spending extra time with them. We had lots of lazy mornings in our PJ's watching Disney films, we also had some nice days out and it was just nice to spend time with all three children without the routine of school and pre-school. I did not get much time with my eldest as she did not wake until lunchtime and then went out with her friends almost every day, but it was still nice to have her off.
5.) Improved Speech. Sophia my almost three-year-old has delayed speech, she does speak but not as much as other children her age do. She will say single words but they are not always clear and she doesn't speak in sentences yet. She has been having speech therapy at home and pre-school since she was two and a half and recently her speech has really come on. She is saying so many new words and starting to put words together now, she even says her name now and said "I love you mammy" today for the very first time. It melted my heart as I have waited so long for her to say that.
6.) Nursery Place. We found out that Sophia has a place at her chosen nursery school in September which was a relief as we initially thought she did not have a place as we never received a letter, after phoning the school we found out she did have a place for September. I am feeling very nervous about sending her to proper nursery school as I do not know if she is ready as she is not three until May, also with her speech delay and her little ways I am worried how she will cope in a school setting. I am also a little bit sad that my baby girl is growing up far too quickly.
7.) Blogging Events. I went to a Hotter shoe event last week which was lots of fun, I had no idea that they actually sold such stylish shoes! I left the event with a lovely pair of wedges and I also had a great night meeting the Hotter team, meeting some new north east bloggers and catching up with old friends. Keep an eye out for a blog post all about that soon (as soon as I catch up with blog work after being ill the last few days). I am also off to Blog on this weekend, fingers crossed I feel better.
8.) Costa Brownies. I am a huge Costa fan, we have a Tassimo coffee machine at home just so we can have Costa lattes every morning. I have been going to Costa for coffees a lot this month and I have been getting the brownies, I am not normally a brownie fan but I love these ones so much! They are my new favourite thing.
9.) Lighter Nights. As a parent to two small children, I have a love/hate relationship with the lighter nights. I hate them because even though we have blackout curtains my little man wakes up earlier and earlier each day, waking before 6 most days instead of 7. Waking up an hour earlier kills me as I am really not a morning person at all. I do love the lighter nights though as I hate the dark winter nights, it is nice going to bed when it is still light and it just feels nicer knowing summer is on its way.
10.) Future Plans. We have been doing lots of planning this month, we are hoping to move in the next few months (as soon as we find a nice house) so we have been house hunting - why does it have to be so hard! We have also been looking at holidays as we are booking a family holiday for next year we just need to decide between a week in Spain or 4 days in Euro Disney. We have also looked into Disney world Florida and were amazed that it is a lot cheaper than we initially thought, so we have plans to go there in the not too distant future too. We also have lots of nice days out and celebrations over the coming weeks which I am looking forward to. I really like having things to look forward to.
So those are a few of the things that I have been loving in April, what did you love this month? I would love to know in the comments below.
Apparently it snowed in other parts of England in April! Anyway, would love to visit York too and I know what you mean when you said you love/hate the longer days. We also need to buy T some new blackout curtains - Dean of Little Steps

Oh wow that sounds so amazing! Would love to go on the Disney Cruise xx
DeleteGorgeous when they say I love you - amazing! The lighter nights are lovely but not for the little ones! Mine are waking very early. Jess xx
ReplyDeleteIt really is gorgeous Jess, I am not a fan of the early morning wake ups xx
DeleteYou have done so much this month! I really, really want to go to York and may make it an aim for next year - we're already too busy this year to fit it in! x

ReplyDeleteYork really is so beautiful isn't it, I love visiting xx
DeleteSebby has delayed speech too but has just started forming simple sentences. Glad to hear she is improving
ReplyDeleteI bet that you are so glad that he is starting to speak in sentences, she is starting to put 2 or 3 words together so I am hoping she will catch up soon xx

DeleteYou've been a very busy bee. Ox pasture looked fab x
ReplyDeleteOx Pasture was amazing, I so want to return xx
DeleteWhat a great week Lindsay, I am loving the lighter nights and love planning for the future too. We have done Disney Paris and Florida and both were amazing, but for me the heat of Orlando gives it that edge, it is so much more laid back and if you plan and book it separately you can save a fortune. In fact they have free dining at the moment which is such an amazing deal. We did that last year it was great x
ReplyDeleteOh I will be asking you for tips when we book, we think we are going to do Euro Disney first for a few days then Florida when they little two are old enough to remember it and enjoy it ( not looking forward to the long flight with little ones) xx
DeleteI am so jealous! I really want to go to York so badly because of the history! Glad to her she is improving as well that is fantastic news.
ReplyDeleteOh you really should visit soon it is only 2 hours on the train from London, you will be able to take amazing photos xx
DeleteSome really lovely things on your list, I have to say. Love, love, love York and Hotter Shoes :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Vai, I love York too and I am not a big Hotter shoe fan xx
DeleteSounds like you had an awesome April. My youngest two (3 and 4) are forming a bond too, but sometimes the bond presents itself as a pair of wrestling, screeching maniacs. Hopefully it's just a phase......
ReplyDeleteWe really did thank you. My two fight and try and kill each other often, I fear it will last a long time xx
DeleteI'm glad you got the nursery place you wanted but I can imagine how it feels especially as my 'baby' is due to join his brother as secondary school in 2017 eek! Sounds like a lovely month minus being ill!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to #TenThings lovely
