April is almost over and it has been such a busy month for us as a family, we have made some lovely memories and we are all enjoying being outdoors now the weather is getting warmer. I can not believe that it is May tomorrow, May is always a busy month for us as it is Sophia's birthday and she will be turning four in a matter of weeks. As today is the last day of April I thought that I would record some of the things that I have loved from the month gone by, I suppose you could call it my monthly happy list.

Beamish - A Brilliant Day Out For The Whole Family
Whenever anyone asks me where to visit in the North East my number one recommendation is always Beamish. It is such a unique and wonderful place to visit that the whole family will enjoy, everyone from babies and young children to adults and elderly relatives will have such a lovely time. I remember visiting Beamish as a child myself and now I visit with my own family, no matter how many times I have visited I always see and discover something new, there really is so much to see.

Disney Beauty And The Beast Belle Dolls From Hasbro
Beauty and the Beast is one of my most favourite Disney films, I remember going to see it at the cinema with my mum when I was a little girl and it has always remained a firm favourite of mine. My three-year-old daughter Sophia also adores Beauty and the Beast and watches it all of the time. I was so excited when I heard that they were bringing out a new version of the filming starring Emma Watson and I dragged my teen along to the cinema when it came out. I loved the new film and now I can not wait for it to come out on DVD, seriously if you haven't seen it you really must as it is amazing.

BBC Newcastle Children's Tour Review
Did you know that you can book a tour to go behind the scenes at BBC Newcastle? I didn't until we were kindly invited along last week to see what the children's interactive tours were like. BBC Newcastle runs two different types of tour's, the children's one which we went on and is recommended for children aged 6-12 years old and they also have an adult one. If you don't live in the North East then you can also book on tours at your local BBC studios.

An Easter Visit To Whitehouse Farm Morpeth
Whenever I think of Easter I not only think of chocolate eggs and fish and chips but also of baby chicks and lambs, and what better way to see them than a visit to a farm? You just can't beat a spring time Easter trip to the farm, seeing all the newborn baby animals and getting outside in the countryside is fun for the whole family. Living just outside of Newcastle my favourite farm that we have been visiting for many years is Whitehouse farm, which is celebrating its 20th birthday this year!

Tiny Town Newcastle
*Updated 2018 - Tiny Town has now shut down*
Being a mum to two pre-schoolers I am always on the lookout for fun places that I can take them and last week we discovered somewhere pretty special, Tiny Town Newcastle. Tiny Town is located in Chapel House in the West Denton area of Newcastle, tucked away near the shops in a large detached house which has been transformed into a magical role-play centre for young children to have fun and let their imagination run wild.

Tiny Town opened over a year ago now and I have been meaning to visit ever since I was invited when it first opened, after following them on Facebook and seeing what fun it was I knew that I had to take my 2 and 3-year-old along to see what they thought. It is recommended for children from around one to six years old, making my children the perfect age for a visit.

A Quick Family Midweek Meal With Dolmio
As a mum of three, with a partner who works shifts, midweek evening meals can be a bit hectic. I am often solo parenting whilst keeping an eye on and trying to entertain my two and three years old and trying (and often failing) to help my teen with her homework. So trying to make a healthy, tasty home cooked family evening meal whilst dealing with the chaos of family life, is let's face it sometimes a bit of a struggle.
As a family, we are not a fan of frozen or microwaved foods, much preferring to have a proper meal around the table each evening. This is where Dolmio come to the rescue, I am sure you are all familiar with the iconic when is your Dolmio day adverts? Well as a busy mum I always have a jar of Dolmio bolognese stashed in the kitchen pantry for those days where we want a healthy, tasty meal but we are short on time.

Young Driver Driving Lessons for 10-17 year-old's at Newcastle Racecourse
Did you know that you book your 10 - 17-year-old child onto driving lessons? Neither did I until I heard about Young Driver driving lessons. Recently myself and my teen were invited down to the recently opened venue at Newcastle's Gosforth Park racecourse, which is only a five-minute drive from where we live. Young Drivers used to be based near the Metrocentre but the new venue at the racecourse is brilliant as it is so easy to get to from the A1 and A19 with free onsite parking and regular buses stopping outside the racecourse gates.

March 2017
We are now a quarter of the way through the year, I know I keep saying it but this year really does seem to be whizzing on by. Sometimes I really do wish that things would slow down a little so that I can enjoy these years with my children just that little bit longer, they are growing so big right before my eyes. March was another strange month for us, not a lot happened and we did not do a lot but it was a nice quiet month both in real life and blog wise.

Orchard Toys Smelly Wellies Game
We are big fans of Orchard Toys, we have quite a few of the games now and my three-year-old Sophia loves playing with them. Sophia has a speech delay and playing these games with her actually makes her concentrate and helps to learn her new words, so we make an effort to play a game with her regularly. Even though we play the games regularly she never gets bored of them, but she was delighted when she was recently sent a new game to play called Smelly Wellies.
