Welcome to another week of my guest post series Other Bloggers Family Lives, this week I am featuring one of my all time favourite bloggers the lovely Emma from Life According To Mrs Shilts. I have met Emma is real life and she is just as lovely in real life as you expect her to be on her blog. I love reading all about her family life with her little boy, and the adventures they go on. If anyone is trying to lose weight or following the Slimming World plan then you need to read Emma's blog as she has done amazing on the plan and lost a lot of weight and shares so many tasty recipes, she is a true slimming inspiration.
So lets find out more about the family behind Life According To Mrs Shilts.
1.) Tell me a bit about yourself and your family ?
Hello. I'm Emma and I write at Life According To Mrs Shilts. I'm a mummy to one gorgeous three year old boy and wife to Shilts.
2.) Where do you live ?
We live about 10 miles outside of Birmingham, in the West Midlands.
3.) What is your favourite thing to do as a family where you live ?
Our favourite thing to do as a family in the West Midlands is get in the car and drive, We are lucky that we are close to the city of Birmingham so we can go shopping or experience the sights of the city, We can also get in the car and drive out into the countryside. Within thirty minutes to an hour, we can be enjoying the spectacular views of the Clent Hills, the Wrekin and the Peak District. On our doorstep we have Sandwell Valley which is an area of urban parkland and is brilliant for family afternoons out and enjoying the sunshine.
4.) If you could live anywhere, where would you ?
If we could live anywhere, we would live by the sea. Being landlocked in the Midlands, it is a good drive to the coast but there's something magical about being by the sea. We couldn't move that far away sadly as we are proper home birds and would miss our families terribly.
5.) Did you grow up close to where you live now and what are your favourite childhood memories of where you grew up ?
I grew up in Staffordshire which is roughly 15 miles from where we live now. My husband grew up here so it's nice that our son will be following in his footsteps. My favourite childhood memories of where I grew up are being able to meet friends at the park down the road from our home and going on Duke of Edinburgh practice walks over Cannock Chase, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty.
6.) Have you any exciting family plans for the year ahead ?
We are off camping in a few weeks with my family and we've got a few days out planned during the summer holidays. My son, Olly is starting pre-school in September so it's all change in our house. It's sure to be a very exciting time for us all.
7.) What is your favourite thing about family life ?
My favourite thing about family life is seeing the world through my child's eyes. Everyday I get a different perspective and it's really given me the most exhilarating joy. Being a parent is everything I thought it would be and much, much more. I really love it.
Thank you so much for taking part Emma, I loved reading your answers. It sounds lovely where you live with so much to see and do, I live near the coast and agree that it is rather magical. My little girl starts pre-school next month too, I will probably cry when I wave her off in her uniform on the first day. I hope that Olly loves pre-school and that you enjoy the rest of the summer with him.
