Interview With TV Presenter Laura Hamilton On Her Amazing Weight Loss

 AD

When I heard  A Place In The Sun TV presenter, Laura Hamilton, who has two children close in age like myself and who also gained 4 stone in her last pregnancy had lost an impressive 5 stone in weight I just had to know her secrets.

After the birth of her one year old daughter Tahlia, Laura enlisted the help of celebrity fitness guru John Beeby - who also helped Nicole Scherzinger get in shape. With John's help Laura went on to lose an amazing five stone in baby weight.

Together they devised a simple fitness routine which lead to Laura launching her own fitness app Laura Hamilton's Full Body Workout. The app has been designed to help busy mums (like you and me) to exercise anywhere, anytime. With 5 simple routines that are suitable for all fitness levels this app will help you get fit from the comfort of your own home.

When I was given the chance to interview Laura I had to find out just how she managed to lose weight and still look so gorgeous and glam whilst being a busy working mum with two very young children, Rocco aged two and Tahlia aged one.

1.) You look amazing, what made you embark on your fitness and weight loss journey?

After the birth of my first child Rocco I knew I wanted another baby so I didn't bother getting back in shape, but after having Thalia a year ago I thought it was the right time. It was slightly harder because it meant I ended up putting more weight on second time around. I wanted to feel fit and healthy for myself but also for my children. I did put a fair bit of pressure on myself because of my job being on screen constantly in summer clothes.

2.) Did you ever feel like giving up on your bid to lose weight due to lack of time?

I manage to find time to work out when they both sleep and actually when I work out it gives me more energy, so I have never felt like giving up. When I started to see results it started to push me more.

3.) Do you do any other form of exercise or just the routine on the app?

I run around after two toddlers, clean a house and look after my husband! I guess that kind of counts as exercise too. In all seriousness I do run around at a million miles an hour but I love to be busy and having the app means I can focus on particular areas of my body when I work out.

4.) Do you find it harder to stay in shape since having children?

My body has completely changed shape and that is down to a combination of diet and exercise. I eat more healthily and that's also because I want to make sure my children are eating healthy too. In that sense I would say it's easier than I thought.

5.) You probably get asked this all of the time but how do you manage to juggle looking after two young children, working and fit in time for looking after yourself?

I have to be really organised all the time. I constantly write lists and when I have childcare I make the most of it!  As well as having my app I belong to a David Lloyd gym. They have a really good creche, soft play and children's pool so we can all be active together!

6.) In a typical day what do you usually eat and do you still have the odd treat?

I try to eat a lot of protein and avoid sugar and carbs. Eggs and salmon are a breakfast favourite. I no longer drink orange juice or drinks loaded with sugar so have a lot of water. I try to follow the 5:2 diet where 2 days of the week I have whatever I want.

7.) What would be your number one tip for a busy mum looking to lose weight?

Do it for you and don't let anyone else put pressure on you. Be realistic about the goals you set and don't expect it to happen overnight.

8.) Lastly how do you manage to look so amazing with two young children?

I struggle to even get dressed and out the house most days! That is very kind. Make-Up ?!?! I think keeping fit and healthy definitely helps. I don't smoke and I don't drink (that much) and I often have a tan so I guess that helps.
