Other Bloggers Family Lives Featuring Me, Him, The Dog And A Baby

Welcome to another week of my guest post series Other Bloggers Family Lives. This week I am featuring Lyndsey from Me, Him, The Dog And A Baby. Which is a a blog that I have only recently discovered all about life as first time parents, book reviews and general family lifestyle posts.

Me, Him, The Dog And A Baby Blogger

So let's find out a bit more about the family behind Me, Him, The Dog And  A Baby

1.) Tell me a bit about yourself and your family ?

I've not long turned 30 and my husband John is 33 this year. We've been together for 5 years at the end of this year and married for 3 years in September. We recently welcomed Erin into the world and she's now 6 months old. Our family is pretty crazy seeing as we also have a massive white German Shepherd and two rabbits. Our house is never quiet and there is always something going on but I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't really deal well with peace and quiet so I love having a hectic family life.

2.) Where do you live ?

We now live in Norfolk but I have moved around quiet a bit. Before settling down here I spent a year living in Toronto and I also went to university for 3 years in Nottingham. Going from big cities has been a massive change for me as we now live in quiet a small town.

3.) What is your favourite thing to do as a family where you live ?

My mum bought us yearly passes to our local Zoo as a present for Erin being 6 months old (I don't really know why) Cromer Zoo is really small and it only takes an hour or so to get around, but it's something local we can do whenever we want. The Zoo has a small soft play area that we can now use for free as well as a reasonable restaurant. If the weather is nice we can have a picnic on the Zoo grounds as well. There's loads for Erin to take in at this Zoo, having a yearly pass is perfect for us! I love any kind of Zoo and I hope Erin will feel the same.

4.) If you could live anywhere where would you ?

John and I got married in Florida in 2013 and we fell in love with it as soon as we got there. I think both of us would be more than happy to retire in Florida eventually or at least get some kind of holiday home there. I think we probably fell in love with the food there to be honest and if we did move there we would have to be very strict on what we ate!

5.) Did you grow up close to where you live now and what is your favourite childhood memory of where you grew up ?

After University John and I had to make the choice of where to settle down. I'm originally from Grimsby so that was an option, along with Nottingham and where we live now. Home is about 135 miles away from where I'm from, so I live really quiet far away now. It is a horrible 5 or 6 hour train journey back seeing as neither of us drive.

I don't really remember much of my childhood but I do remember strawberry picking. I think that's why I love strawberries so much now. I can't wait to take my own daughter strawberry picking to see what she makes of it and to see if she gets as covered in juice as I did!

6.) Have you any exciting family plans for the year ahead ?

Unfortunately not. We've had a pretty unlucky couple of months. We live in a big Victorian house that needs a lot of work doing to it, something we knew when we moved in. Some things we couldn't have known about or prevented from happening, recently a really bad storm caused a lot of damage to one bedroom. We're still waiting to hear if the insurance will cover the work or if we're going to have to sort it ourselves. We also had a really big piece of coving fall down in the living room so that needs fixing as well; right now we have a pretty big hole!

We're also trying to be debt free apart from the mortgage while Erin is young enough to not care about holidays and things like that. We're throwing all the money we can at things while also trying to sort the house out. It's a bit stressful to be honest but we will get there eventually.

I guess you could say working on the family home is quiet exciting. I do think so because it's my project really but John wanted to buy a new house so he isn't as enthusiastic as I am.

7.) What is your favourite thing about family life ?

Being a mum is by far the best thing in the world and I don't think I could have ever imagined loving it so much. Erin is my entire world and I love getting to spend every day with her. I'm dreading the day that I will probably have to go back to work (at the end of the year) so I make the most of what we do together now. She's probably going to end up being a real Mummy's girl but I don't mind. Erin has made our family complete.

Thank you so much for answering these questions Lyndsey (It feels so strange typing your name when it is the same as mine but spelt differently). I loved reading your answers and finding out more about your family life in Norfolk. I hope that you manage to get your house repaired soon and continue to enjoy your time off work with Erin while she is a baby and I am sure you will love her days out at the Zoo.
