My Little Pony - My Magical Princess Twilight Sparkle Review

My 4-year-old daughter Sophia is My Little Pony crazy at the moment, she watches it non-stop on TV and she has asked for My Little Pony everything for Christmas. We recently reviewed the My Little Pony Canterlot & Seaquestria Castle playset, which Sophia adores and we were also very lucky to also be sent a My Magical Princess Twilight Sparkle pony to review too. Both of these toys have been brought out to coincide with the My Little Pony Movie which is due in cinemas for October half term, which we can not wait to go and see.

Princess Twilight Sparkle toy

When Sophia set sight on My Magical Princess Twilight Sparkle she could not believe her eyes, she is used to My Little Pony's being fairly small but this Princess Twilight Sparkle is rather big and impressive. You do need 4 C batteries which are not included, so make sure you have some handy as we had to have a mad-dash to the shops to get some.

Once the batteries are installed Princess Twilight Sparkle comes to life with a push of the star on her front hoof. As soon as we pressed her hoof her wings started fluttering, her unicorn horn lit up and her eyes starting blinking - much to the children's delight. The My Magical Princess Twilight Sparkle has four play modes which are friendship, spells, music and story time. Each play mode is activated by pressing the star on her hoof and plays on a cycle.

The music mode was Sophia's favourite as she recognised the My Little Pony theme tune that Princess Twilight Sparkle sings, it was heartwarming watching her trying to sing along. Princess Twilight Sparkle also sings songs from the new film. She makes movements whilst she is singing to, such as moving her head up and down and fluttering her wings.

In story mode, she will tell you stories of friendship and she also says over 90 phrases, some of which Children will instantly recognise from watching the show and movie. If you touch her magical unicorn horn she will start talking about spells and magic.

Magical Twilight Sparkle interactive toy

Sophia loves playing with her, she enjoys brushing and attempting to plait her silky mane. She loves making up games, getting Princess Twilight Sparkle to sing songs to her and she makes her sit down, as she has poseable legs. One thing that I really like is that she is not an annoying toy, she is fairly loud when she is on but it is not irritating and if she is not being played with she goes into sleep mode and is quiet.

Sophia absolutely loves the My Magical Princess Twilight Sparkle and it is lovely watching her interact with this toy as Sophia has a few speech problems so normally plays really quiet and on her own, but she is really getting involved and chatting away when playing with this toy. I had actually overheard some of the mums in the school playground saying that their children have asked for this toy for Christmas but they were unsure due to the price (it has an RRP of £139.99) but after seeing how interactive and big this toy is I think it would make a great main gift idea for any My Little Pony fan.

Disclosure I was sent this toy for the purpose of this review, however, all opinions are my own.
