Thing's I Loved In December 2016

Each month I love writing about the things that I have loved from the month gone by, sort of like a happy list. I have just had the most wonderful couple of weeks off from blogging and social media, it was blissful to just spend quality time with my family without constantly being on my iphone! Totally going to spend a lot less time on my phone this year. Anyway as I had a break from my blog I am late writing this month's post about things I have loved from the month gone by, it seems ages since I wrote November's post. So let's have a look at what I loved in December.

1.) Christmas

December is all about Christmas for me, I just love the build up to Christmas and spending time with family and of course the big day its self. This year was probably the first year that the little two (aged 2 & 3) fully understood Christmas and it was just so amazing experiencing the magic of Christmas through their eyes. We had such a wonderful time at home, spending time with family and just spending quality time together in our new home. Definitely the highlight of the month for us all without a doubt.

2.) Panto

We went to see Aladdin at Whitley Bay Playhouse in the middle of the month, it was the first time we had taken Sophia and she loved it. It was such a brilliant pantomime that we all thoroughly enjoyed and it really got us into the Christmas spirit. We will certainly be returning to see next year's production of Cinderella.

3.) Family Time

The other half was actually off for 10 whole days over Christmas and New year so it was so nice to actually spend lots of quality time together as a family. We have mostly spent the time together at home, watching films and eating too many sweets and party snacks but I think it was just what we all needed after a crazy busy few months. We have also spent lots of time visiting family over the holidays, it has just been so relaxing and lovely spending so much time with the people we love.

4.) Harry Potter

Over Christmas I have been watching the Harry Potter films on ITV and after years of saying I did not like Harry Potter I found out that I actually did like it! The other half and my teen are huge HP fans and have been trying to get me to read the books and watch the films for years so they are amazed I actually watched them at long last. My teen has the box set of DVD's and always asks me to watch them with her but I could never get into them, I am going to re-watch them all with her over the next few weeks as I really enjoyed them.

5.) The New House

Back in November we moved to a bigger house and now that we are settled in we all love it. We still have a lot of work to do to make it 'our's' as we need to redecorate most of the rooms as they are all just white at the moment but it feels like home already. The extra space makes family life so much easier as we can actually sit and have family meals around the table together now and it does not feel like we are all on top of one another anymore. This really is the house that I know we will bring our children up in and turn into a proper family home over the coming year.

6.) 1st Nativity

Sophia had her first nursery nativity a few weeks ago, she was an angel and she looked adorable in her costume. She cried through the performance as I think the crowd was a bit too much for her, bless. All month she has been singing the songs from the nativity and pretending her doll is baby Jesus which is very cute to watch.

7.) Lazy Day's At Home

I have loved having the children off school and nursery as it has meant we have had so many lazy days at home. It is so nice to just have lazy mornings in our pyjamas without having to do the school and nursery runs each day. I love nothing more in the winter than being indoors with the heating on just watching the children play, watching films and pottering around doing housework.

8.) Shopping

I am not normally a fan of shopping, I do most of my shopping online these days. I love Christmas shopping though, I love finding the perfect gift for a loved one and buying things for my children that I know they will love. I had two shopping trips with my teen over Christmas, one before and one after Christmas and it was nice to spend time just me and her, even if she does have very expensive taste in clothes and make-up these days.

9.) Chinese Munchy Box

Chinese food is my absolute favourite but I can never decide what to get when we get a one. My local Chinese has started doing Munchy boxes which are just pizza boxes filled with chips, fried rice, curry sauce and a selection of popular dishes. Myself and the other half get them to share and they are lovely, we have had three Chinese takeaways over the Christmas and New Year.

10.) New Year

We don't actually celebrate New Year, we always just stay in with a Chinese takeaway and we are normally in bed long before midnight. I love this time of year though as I always look back on the year gone by and look forward to what the new year will bring. Here is hoping 2017 is just as good as 2016 for us all.

So those are some of the thing's that I have been loving in December, what did you love?

  1. This sounds like a perfect December to me :) We have had soooo many takeaways over the holidays, but I love the sound of those boxes. What a fab idea so you can have a bit of everything. I'm exactly the same as you when it comes to shopping, I only go if I actually really need something but I love buying presents for other people :)

  6. Glad you had a lovely Christmas- your December sounds very much like mine right down to the Chinese food! We also took the children to the panto for the first time and we all loved it (I hadn't been since I was little!), so will definitely be making that a yearly occasion. I can see your two seem to have a similar age gap to mine- what's the gap? We have 15 months and it was quite hectic when they were younger but lovely all the same! x

    1. There is 14 months between my two, it really is so crazy when they are little but it is getting easier now they are older - apart from the constant fighting! Hope you had a lovely first Christmas in your new home too xx
