Thomas & Friends Glowing Musical Thomas Review

My little boy Jacob is crazy about Thomas & Friends, all he has asked for this year for Christmas is two things and one of them is a Thomas & Friends green train. He loves Thomas so much that he has Thomas bedding, Thomas pyjamas and a couple of Thomas toys. At only two-years-old, he is still a bit too young for most of the toys as they are mostly aimed at slightly older children.

Golden Bear toys have launched a new range of Thomas & Friends toys aimed at younger fans, suitable for ages 10 months +. They have a Glowing Musical Thomas (RRP £24.99) which plays the iconic theme tune, makes sounds and says popular phrases and his cheeks also light up and glow different colours. The Large Talking Thomas & Friends (RRP £14.99) are large soft-bodied trains that say popular phrases from the show. You can choose from Thomas, James and Percy and they are perfect for little hands to hold, or you can get the regular Talking Thomas & Friends (RRP £9.99) which is exactly the same just a bit smaller in size. Thomas & Friends Beanies (RRP £4.99) would make the perfect stocking filler and are ideal for carrying around or collecting, again you can choose from Thomas, James or Percy characters.

For slightly older toddlers aged 3 plus they also have a Thomas & Friends felt set (RRP £7.99) that comes with over 50 felt pieces and is sure to bring hours of fun. The Thomas & Friends Mini Sketchy-Fun (RRP £4.99) is perfect for keeping little ones entertained when out and about and encourage them to get creative.

We were very kindly sent a Glowing Musical Thomas to review, as soon as Jacob set eyes on it he loved it. We have had it for a few weeks now and he has played with it daily, he carries it around the house with him and is constantly pressing the funnels to make him play the theme tune and talk. He really likes the fact that Thomas' cheeks light up and change colour and he sings along to the theme tune which is adorable to watch. It is a really soft and cuddly toy made from soft textured fabric which Jacob seems to like, he is always cuddling him.

Being a soft toy Jacob always wants to take Thomas to bed but the theme tune is quite loud and Jacob presses the funnel to activate it non-stop. You can turn him off with the switch on the bottom but Jacob knows how to turn toys on and off himself. So while he is soft and cuddly and his glowing cheeks make a lovely night light I would recommend keeping him downstairs in the toy box like we do.

We really liked that this Glowing Musical Thomas came complete with batteries so that we could take him out the box and play with him straight away. There is nothing that I would say we dislike about this toy, Jacob loves it even after having him for a few weeks now he has not gotten bored of him. If you have a younger Thomas fan then I think they would certainly like this toy, he is cuddly and little ones will love cuddling him whilst hearing the iconic theme tune that they all know and love. The light up cheeks are also really appealing to little ones and I am sure that a young baby would love this toy just as much as my two-year-old does.

You can buy Thomas & Friends Glowing Musical Thomas from all leading toy retailers priced at £24.99. It is currently on offer at Argos this week for £12.49 too (2 December 2016).

Disclosure We received this toy for the purpose of this review, however all opinions are my own.

  8. Looks like a great little toy for Thomas fans, and wow the offer from Argos is pretty darn good! It's a shame there wasn't like a night time switch on it so it could be taken to bed without making all of the noise, as children do associate soft toys with bed time don't they?
