April 2019

Life has been busy lately (isn't it always?) and I keep forgetting to write these monthly updates on the month gone by, which is a shame as I love looking back on them. I feel like I have so much going on lately that this blog is majorly neglected which is a bit frustrating as I had worked so hard to build it up over the years. But with a wedding to organise - I had no idea it would be so time-consuming the closer it got, plus the eldest doing her GCSE's and taking the little two to after-school activities I just have no free time.  Anyway, I am going to try and post on here more often again, famous last words! So here is a little look back on what April 2019 was like for us.

Personal Life

April was a month that started with illness and ended with illness! Sophia caught a nasty sickness bug at the start of the month and she was really unwell, in 16 years of being a parent I had never seen so much sick, she was sick for five days nonstop. I was really worried as she could not keep any fluids at all down so we nearly took her to hospital for dehydration but luckily she pulled around in time. Jacob also had the bug but he was sick twice and then was fine, luckily. Chloe also ended up in the hospital again with her asthma at the end of the month and is now under the care of the hospital respiratory team. She has had asthma since she was 4 and it has always been under control but in the space of six weeks she has had two attacks and been taken to hospital. She has also been at the eye hospital (again) for cold sores in her eyes (again).

The month wasn't all bad though as we had a few nice days out over the Easter school holidays, we reviewed Jump360 Newcastle and we had lots of family time at home. We have also been super busy with wedding related stuff, I had my first dress fitting, we had meetings with our venue and we had our stag and hen parties. Lee went to the races and out in Newcastle for his stag at the start of the month and I had my hen party at the end of the month. It was so nice going out with my friends and family and having a night out on the town as I haven't done that in such a long time.

Our wedding is only a matter of weeks away now and we have so many meetings to attend with suppliers and decisions to make and it is taking up so much head space. I have been pretty chilled out all the way through wedding planning and now it is getting closer I am realising just how time-consuming all the little things are. I am also just a tad stressed as I have gone over budget with the wedding and still have so many extras to pay off, oops.

I am a firm believer that everything will work out ok in the end, so fingers tightly crossed it does.

Blog Life

Well, what can I say, blogging has been a bit of a disaster lately if I am honest. I think because I have a lot going on at home, such as the wedding and the teen doing her GCSEs I just haven't felt like writing. All last week I had the time to blog but for the first time ever I had writer's block as my mind is elsewhere at the moment. I am not too bothered though as I have been blogging long enough to know that the blog will still be here after the wedding. I just wish I was earning a bit more money via it as paid work has been a bit dead lately, but that's probably down to the fact I have rarely blogged.

Anyway, I have lots of ideas for after the wedding jotted down so at least I have a plan.

We have worked with Jump 360 Newcastle, reviewed a few toys and a meal at Toby Carvery plus took on a paid campaign with Swizzels sweets this month. I have a few reviews lined up for May but I have found I am saying no to a lot more emails these days as I only want to work with brands that work well on this blog. I also want to start making more videos as I have so many clips on camera from days out that I need to turn into videos when I eventually have the time.

So that is basically what April was like for us, a bit of a mixed month with illness, lots of wedding planning and family time.

How was your April?
