Planning A Shared Disney Bedroom

Almost a year ago we moved into our forever family home, we have slowly been decorating the house and getting things how we want. The next room we are planning on decorating is the children's bedroom, our youngest two children currently share a bedroom and will do for a few years until we can afford either an extension or loft conversion. They have the master bedroom which is a good size and has plenty of room for their beds, furniture and toys. However, their bedroom is quite boring as it is just plain white and I really want to make it fun, as I fondly remember my Forever Friends bear themed room from my own childhood.

As they are so close in age they like sharing a room as they like a lot of the same things, especially Disney. So we have decided that we are going to go for a Disney themed bedroom, which we think will be suitable for a boy and girl. Their bedroom is currently just plain white and I think we are going to keep the white wall and add some bright Disney themed prints to the walls to brighten it up a bit which I have found on Etsy

Instead of the two single beds that they currently have, I am thinking of getting some white wooden bunk beds for them with Disney bedding. I like the idea of Mickey mouse for my son and Minnie for my daughter and they can pile all of their Disney soft toys on. I have also discovered some really cool Disney themed blinds from VELUX although I can't decide between the Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse or Bambi prints as they are all so lovely.

I want all new furniture for their room too as their current wardrobe is too small so I have been contemplating getting fitted ones installed instead. I also really like the idea of getting big wooden toy chests with the children's names on too, which will hopefully keep the toys a bit more organised and the room a bit tidier.

I love finding little finishing touches to add to rooms too as I think these are what pull a room together and create a 'theme'. We already have a few Disney bits and bobs like a lovely Belle rose jewellery box, cushions from Disneyland Paris and money boxes. I want to add some more little accessories to the room featuring all of the children's favourite Disney characters, like Ariel, Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Belle, Dumbo, Peter Pan and Tinkerbelle.

I am hoping that decorating the children's bedroom in their favourite characters will encourage them to keep their bedroom tidy, but I think that is just wishful thinking.

Do your children have a themed bedroom? I would love to know theme in the comments below.
