My children are at the age (4 & 3) where they adore all kind of animals and are fascinated with them, they have recently been asking for a pet dog but I am a bit scared of dogs (I am terrified of them after being bitten as a child). So they were utterly delighted when they were recently sent a FurReal Chatty Charlie The Barkin Beagle dog to review, which is a very cute, interactive beagle puppy dog toy.
When Charlie arrived he was actually barking and making noises in the box, my children could not wait to get him out of the box and start playing. Charlie already came with batteries in - always a plus point, meaning that the children could start playing with him straight away. Charlie is a beagle dog and he is ever so cute with floppy ears, big puppy dog eyes and sticky out tongue, children (and adults) will instantly fall in love with him.
When we got him out the box we realised that he is quite hard bodied so he is not really a toy you can take to bed and cuddle, however, my children do still cuddle him when playing. This is an interactive toy and it responds to movement by barking, talking and playing games to grab your attention which instantly draws children in. He also responds if you stroke his back, he can say over eighty phrases such as asking for a hug and "let's play". His collar is a translator which turns his barks into words and phrases that children can understand, the voice is quite a playful, childlike voice which suits Charlie perfectly.
As I mentioned Charlie plays games such as hide and seek by moving his ears over his eyes, my children love this feature and he also wags his tail making him more life like for children. He can also move his front paws, but you have to move them yourself, he doesn't have moveable back paws as he is in a sort of fixed sitting position which makes it easier to play with him.
My children absolutely love Chatty Charlie and have played with him daily since we got him, they have played games and treat him like an actual pet dog. Charlie is very chatty and certainly lives up to his name, he does have an on/off switch though for when he is not in use. I think that Charlie would make a lovely Christmas gift for a child who loves animals and fun interactive toys.
You can buy FurReal Chatty Charlie The Barkin Beagle from all leading toy retailers and he has an RRP of £59.99.
Disclosure We were sent this toy for the purpose of this review, however, all opinions are my own.
That is so cute and yes, definitely, those are the ages for anything cuddly! T went through that stage. Must admit she still loves them, even though it's driving me a bit mad because she has too much! ;)

DeleteThis sounds like quite a realistic dog as far as toys go. You don't want to encourage pets in bed either do you. Not a bad price either.
ReplyDeleteHe is very interactive x

DeleteYou're right, this would be a perfect gift for kids who love animals but not old enough yet to care for a live one.
ReplyDeleteAww, Chatty Charlie looks so cute. My daughter has a Max dog from the Secret Life of Pets and she loves it. Looks very similar.
ReplyDeleteBut Chatty Charlie looks like he was more features - I love the hide and seek option!
The wagging tail sounds cute! My daughter asked for a walking dog for her birthday (no idea why) so I wonder if this is something they may make in the future
ReplyDeletesuch a cute toy, Emily would love this, she loves dogs and is constantly asking us to get one - so not practical having a dog in a flat haha. She is forever chasing dogs around when we are out. x
ReplyDeleteMy twins love these types of toys, we have the cats as they play with them loads. They haven't realised they do a dog version!
ReplyDeleteAh such a cute toy, I think I'll stick this on the Christmas list for my niece!
