Pizzastorm Salads

PIZZASTORM HAS NOW CLOSED DOWN.

Last November PizzaStorm opened in Newcastle's new Grays Quater dining area and we were kindly invited along to see what we thoughtWe were really impressed with the pizzas and found them to be great value and the perfect place for a quick lunch when in the city centre. Pizzastorm have recently launched their new salads where you can create your own custom-made salad with unlimited toppings just like their pizzas. Ideal if you are trying to be healthy or just want a light lunch whilst out shopping.

I was recently invited along to PizzaStorm to try out the new salads and I took my teen Chloe along with me, after a busy day of back to school shopping in Eldon Square. As I am trying (and failing) to start eating more healthy in preparation for my upcoming wedding I was keen to try out the new salads and Chloe decided to try out a create your own pizza.

When choosing a salad you choose your lettuce base from a choice of iceberg, romaine, mixed leaf or rocket, some cheese (which I skipped) as many or as few salad ingredients (from about 15 available), as you wish and then your toppings and sauce. You can make your salad as healthy or unhealthy as you like and you can select as many or as few toppings as you wish. I really like the idea of picking your own ingredients as I am a fussy eater and often don't like some salad ingredients - olives and tomatoes I am looking at you!

All of the ingredients used in PizzaStorm are fresh and you just work your way along the counter saying what you would like in your salad, or in Chloe's case pizza. For my salad, I opted for a roman lettuce base, no cheese, red onions and sweetcorn with chargrilled chicken and a Ceasar dressing.

Chloe created her pizza, in the same way, picking her sauce, she opted for BBQ then her cheese and her toppings of Piri-Piri chicken, chargrilled chicken, pepperoni, ham and sweetcorn.

We went and found a seat whilst my salad was tossed and the pizza was cooked in the stonebaked oven. Within minutes our food was ready and we were impressed with how quick it arrived and how delicious it all looked. My salad was served in a nice dish and looked incredible, not a soggy lettuce leaf in sight. Everything was green, crisp and fresh.

As soon as tried my first mouthful I was impressed, the caesar dressing really worked well with the ingredients I had chosen and the salad was bursting with flavour. Everything was nice and crunchy like a salad should be and the chargrilled chicken was plentiful and tasty.

Chloe was impressed with her pizza, so much so that she has since returned with her friends to have another one. At just £8.45 for a create your own pizza with unlimited toppings they are really good value and plain cheese and tomato pizzas are just £5.95. You can also get refillable soda drinks for £2.75. Salads cost £6.95 for a large salad or £4.95 for a small salad. If you visit Monday - Friday lunchtime between 12pm and 5pm they have a lunchtime special of a small salad or mini pizza with a drink for just £4.95 which is great value.

I will certainly be returning for another salad next time I am shopping in Newcastle as lunch at Pizzastorm is quick, great value and tasty which is just what you want when you are grabbing a quick lunch. Also worth noting is the service we received was amazing, I am well aware that when you go for a review the staff may treat you extra well but every time we have been I can not fault the service at all. The male member of staff who served us was very friendly and helpful not only with us but with all of the other customers too.
