Anyone who knows me will know that I am a huge bookworm, I adore reading and have loved nothing more than getting lost in a good book since I was a child. I remember my imagination growing with each bedtime story I read, I was always keen to discover new books and the adventures within them. Now I am a parent I love reading stories to my own children, watching them be amazed by books and seeing their little imaginations growing with each tale is amazing to watch. I really hope they grow to love books and reading just as much as I do.
This year much-loved children's book publisher Little Tiger Press turns 30 years old! To celebrate they have released a range of wonderfully entertaining picture books that are sure to delight children (and adults) and help children's imagination grow. To help celebrate Little Tiger Presses birthday we were kindly sent a party pack to host our very own Little Tiger Picture Book Party.
We were sent some balloons and bunting, to get us into the party spirit. We were sent some activities and dressing up outfits and four wonderful picture books, which were Tiny Tantrum, The Only Lonely Panda, Fairytale Pets and That Is Actually My Blanket Baby. My children could not wait to have their very own book party and they invited their cousin Heidi round to join in the fun too.
To get us in the mood we ate some party food, played with balloons, dressed up in the tiger Kigus outfit and got crafty making some tiger masks and headdresses. The children had a brilliant few hours playing and getting creative before settling down to read a story, or four.
Tiny Tantrum was a big hit with my monster mad 2-year-old son and had the girls giggling along with the silliness of the story. It is a book about a little girl called Tiny Tantrum who has lots of tantrums when she does not get her own way until monsters start appearing telling her why having tantrums is not so great. This book has gorgeous, colourful illustrations and silly rhymes and songs that children will love.
Fairy Tale Pets was my 4-year-old favourite story, about a boy called Bob who starts pet sitting and encounters lots of well-knowing fairy tale characters - much to my daughter's delight. It also had rather funny illustrations which she loved pointing at and talking about throughout the story too.
That Is Actually My Blanket Baby was my 5-year-old niece's favourite story, this is the ideal story for any child who has/ is having a new sibling. It is about a girl called Bella and she has a baby brother who cries a lot, the only thing that calms him is Bellas beloved comfort blanket. Baby has a blanket of his own and Bella shows her brother how to make his blanket, much loved and used just like her own.
The Only Lonely Panda is a lovely tale about a panda who wants to make a friend but he is unsure how. He tries copying others but he soon realises that the best way to make friends is just to be yourself, a lovely tale which I am going to be reading to my children a lot in the future.
All of these Little Tiger Press books are beautifully illustrated, full of adventure and perfect for young children to enjoy. My children loved these books so much that they have already asked for more of the range, which they seen advertised in the back of one of the books.
Reading these books and taking part in fun activities has really brought these books to life for my children, the imagination - while they made masks and dressed up, was amazing to witness. We had a wonderful Little Tiger Picture Book Party and we are all big fans of the books. Happy birthday Little Tiger Press, here is to the next 30 years of making books children will fall in love with and adventure through the land of imagination with.
