Thing's I Have Loved - May 2017

May is now almost over and it has been such a busy month for us as a family. We started the month with a little UK mini break, Sophia turned four and had her party, we had a few nice family meals out and we have spent lots of time outdoors enjoying the nice weather. So here is a look at some of the thing's that I have loved from the month gone by.

Berwick Beach

1.) Berwick

We booked a little mini break to a Haven caravan site in Berwick, Northumberland at the start of the month and the children loved it. We were really lucky that the sun shone every day we were away, so we made the most of being beside the seaside and spent a lot of time outdoors at the beach and park. The children loved going swimming every day, visiting the mini disco each night and the novelty of sleeping in a caravan.

2.) Sunshine

I have loved the warm weather we have had the last few weeks, it has been so nice not having to wear a winter coat and to be able to get outdoors more. I always think that everything seems better when the sun is shining.

3.) Sophia's Birthday

A few days ago my little girl Sophia turned four years old, she was at nursery school in the morning so in the afternoon we took her out to celebrate. We went to build-a-bear where she made a rabbit called Clover, she also spent some of her birthday money in Fenwick's toy shop and we went out for a meal at George's Great British Kitchen, so she could have fish and chips which are her favourite. We got her a new purple micro scooter for her birthday which she loves riding to school and she also requested a Blaze and the Monster Machines birthday cake.

4.) Sophia's Party

The weekend before her birthday Sophia had a party at Wacky Warehouse and she had the best time. We were so impressed with the party package and everyone had a great time, the whole thing was so stress-free as everything was provided - even the cake. Sophia loved playing with her friends and being the centre of attention. I will be writing a blog post about her party in the next few days so keep an eye out for that, we enjoyed the party so much we have decided to have Jacobs party there in a few months too.

Magic weekend 2017 St James Park

5.) Rugby Magic Weekend

Last week we were lucky enough to be invited along to the Dacia Magic Weekend at St James Park in Newcastle. I am not a Rugby fan at all, in fact, I had never seen a match before! However, it was a nice change doing something different. We got the VIP treatment and had brilliant seats, access to Hero's bar and the atmosphere was brilliant.

6.) Lebanese Food

When we visited Berwick recently we visited a Lebanese restaurant and it was delicious, we liked it so much we visited twice. I had never tried Lebanese food before so I was not sure what it would be like, if you have never tried it before then you really should as every dish I tried was delicious and packed full of flavour. I will certainly be visiting one of the Lebanese restaurants in Newcastle in the near future.

7.) 13 Reasons Why

After seeing everyone rave about 13 Reasons why I decided to watch the Netflix show myself. It took me a while to get into the show but after a few episodes I was hooked and binge watched the whole series in a couple of days. I did find the show a bit harrowing, but as a parent to a teenage girl, I am glad that I watched it.

8.) Reading

I have always been a total bookworm ever since I was a child, I have hundreds of books and love nothing more than getting lost in a good book for hours. Since having my son I rarely get the chance to read, recently I have been making the effort to try and read more and I am so glad I have as I have my love of reading back. I am not a TV fan so reading a book is my way of relaxing after a busy day.

9.) George's Great British Kitchen

On Sophia's 4th birthday we went to Newcastle to visit build-a-bear and for a family meal. We ended up going to George's Great British Kitchen which is located in the new Eldon Square food part and we loved it. Sophia loved sitting the seaside beach hut booths to eat her meal and she really enjoyed her Fish and chip meal served in a bucket. We all really enjoyed our meals and I will certainly be returning as the food and service were amazing, I only wish I had thought to take more photos and reviewed it as it was that good!

10.) YO Sushi

I actually went to a YO Sushi event at the end of April but it was after I had written last months things I loved post. I had never been to YO Sushi before I was invited to their new menu launch and I am now eager to go back. I loved trying new dishes and the food was delicious.

  2. I'm still trying to get through 13 Reasons Why. I started it knowing exactly what I was getting in to but I can only watch it when my son is asleep - which is also the time I need to get shit done. It's a vicious cycle!

  7. It's great that she had such a wonderful birthday and all the stress was taken off you so you could just enjoy the proceedings. It's also wonderful that you got to try other things and push yourself out of your comfort zone. #likedandloved
