Blog On 2016

Two week's ago I travelled down to Manchester with Sam and Karen to attend the annual Blog on event. I honestly had no idea what to expect as I have only ever been to one other blogging event before and that was Britmums Live last June. I was just looking forward to catching up with blogging friends and having a break from mummy duties for 24 hours.

Manchester is about 2-3 hour drive from Newcastle so we decided to travel down on Saturday afternoon and stay overnight in a Travelodge in Oldham, as all the central hotels were really expensive with it being a bank holiday weekend. We arrived in Manchester at around tea time so we checked in to the hotel then headed to the pub across the road for prosecco, dinner and a catch-up.

The next morning we got a taxi to the museum of science and industry where the blog on event is held and signed in. There were so many bloggers that I recognised and wanted to speak to but as is always the case at these things I hardly got to catch up with anyone and those I did it was just a quick hello. I am such a rubbish blogger I did not take hardly any photos, so apologies for the lack of them.

There was a great selection of brands at the event who were all really lovely to talk to especially the Hotter shoe ladies who I actually met the week before when they were in Newcastle. There was also a Swizzler sweet stand and ball pool and lots of great toy brands too. There were lots of different talks on covering subjects such as Pinterest, YouTube, photography and monetising your blog.

The session that I enjoyed the most was defiantly Emily from a mummy too session (she is super lovely) she talked a lot of sense and made me realise what kind of direction I want my blog to go in (I am always unhappy with my blog's direction). I also enjoyed the advanced Pinterest talk, although most of it was things that I already know from attending a Pinterest workshop last year. It was still useful and made me realise that I need to start paying more attention to my Pinterest account as that is where most of my traffic (48%) comes from.

I also attended a YouTube session held by Channel Mum and whilst I am not really into YouTube and never watch YouTube videos this is something I want to start doing at some point. I won't be a vlogger as that is not me at all and I am far too self-conscious, but I love the idea of filming days out. I think they will be great to look back on in years to come.

We then decided to head home early before the end of the event, as Sam had a long drive ahead of her to get us all back to Newcastle. We were each given three huge goody bags before leaving and I also won a Trunki in the raffle, which Jacob absolutely loves already and will be perfect for when we go on holiday.

I had a lovely time at Blog On it was a great day catching up with blogging friends, I enjoyed the sessions I attended and the brands were all lovely and my children were over the moon with all the sweets and toys in the goody bags. Thank you Laura for organising such a great event and I will defiantly be returning next year.
