The Arcade Warehouse North Shields

The Arcade Warehouse

The Arcade Warehouse is located at Newcastle Quays (Formally known as The Royal Quays) In North Shields. It is open 7 days a week and it costs £12 per person for a two hour session, once you pay to get inside all of the games are free to play and you can play them as often as you like during the session.

There is Arcade games, retro games, pool tables, air hockey, gaming PCs, an interactive wall and even VR machines - all of them are included with the entry price. There is a few games for younger children, lots of family friendly games such as Mario, racing games and a few games for older children / adults.

They have a small seating area and a cafe serving drinks and food if you want a break from playing. Everyone over the age of five needs to pay to enter, even if you are not planning on playing any games and children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult - under 5s are free.

If they have availability you can walk in but they do recommend booking online in advance. They run 3-4 sessions throughout the day and each session lasts for two hours. You can't enter until your session start time. Session times and opening times can be found on The Arcade Warehouse website

What We Thought

We visited with children aged 11 and 12 years old during the Feburuary half-term. We had pre-booked online in advance on a 3-5pm session and it was not too busy when we visited meaning we could get on games without any waiting.

The children enjoyed playing on the arcade games such as basketball, Mario games, air hockey, pool and racing games. They went on the VR machines and my son went on the gaming PCs. All of the machines were working and it was good that they could just go on any games they wanted without asking for money or having to top up gaming cards.

There was a good selection of games available however it is not huge inside and my children did get a bit bored after a while and we did leave before the two hours was up. But if your children are big arcade fans then they could spend the full two hours here.

It is great for a rainy day activity or for something a bit different with older kids or as something you can do as a family.
