Cadbury World

 AD

Did you know that you could visit a real life chocolate factory here in England? Cadbury World in Birmingham is a real life chocolate factory that you can visit to find out the history of chocolate and Cadburys and find out how it is made. The perfect day out for any chocoholic!

Cadbury World Birmingham

Cadbury World

We visited as part of a Caledonian Travel Family Fun break back in October 2023 so things might be a bit different since we visited.  You can book tickets to visit yourself and make a day of it if you are not visiting as part of a trip. Cadbury World is located in Birmingham and it is advised that you plan at least two hours for your visit.

On arrival you get handed a four different chocolate bars per person, they have little bags you can buy to store the chocolate in for £1. You then make your way around a sort of museum type area in your own time to learn about the history of chocolate, they have a few displays and interactive boards where you can find out more information.

There was also a little mini village area and a interactive cocoa bean exhibit - hold on to the bench as it might just move!

You then make your way to the chocolate factory area where there was a couple of demonstration areas where you can draw with chocolate and experiment with chocolate with staff on hand to tell you information and show you what to do. My children really enjoyed this but you only get a few minutes in this area as it gets busy.

You then get to see some of the staff creating some of the chocolate products such as chocolate teapots from behind a glass screen. You are also giving a little pot of melted chocolate with a choice of toppings. We were also giving a couple more chocolate bars each as we made our way around.

There was a green screen area where you can get your photo taking with various different props in the background that you can buy. We didn't get one so I am not sure how much they cost.

There is also a small Chocolate ride that you can ride on but it is more of a younger children ride and only takes a few minutes but is still worth going on.

There is a 4D Cinema experience but we didn't have time to visit due to long queues (we visited during October half term) and there was also a big outdoor playground that the children enjoyed.

There is a lot of photo opportunities and props from old Cadbury advents dotted around, they had characters dressed up and stilt walkers when we visited.

Cadbury Shop And Cafe

There is a onsite shop and it is worth a visit they had lots of Cadbury themed gifts and so many different sweets and chocolates to buy. We spent about £30 in the shop and got a huge bag filled with discounted Cadburys products and sweets to bring home.

There is also a onsite cafe serving a lot of Cadbury inspired products and they even do afternoon teas. They also serve drinks and snacks and it is ideal for lunch during your visit.

What We Thought

We enjoyed visiting Cadbury World as it was something different and the children really enjoyed the interactive elements. We also liked that you could make your own way around at your own pace and are not rushed about in a group. We spent about three to four hours at Cadbury World and felt like this was more than enough time to see everything and play in the park, get lunch etc.

While we did enjoy the visit I feel like maybe there could be more behind the scenes type elements to the tour as you don't see a lot. However there was construction work going on when we visited so I am not sure if that impacted our visit or not.

If you are in the area then I feel like Cadbury World is worth a visit for a few hours but I probably wouldn't travel far just to visit - unless you are a huge Cadbury fan of course. We visited when the children were 10 and 9 years old and I felt they were a good age to experience Cadbury World.
