Afternoon Tea At The Running Fox Northumberland

One of the best afternoon teas here in the North East is The Running Fox in Northumberland. I have visited a few times now and the food is always delicious. The Running Fox have five cafes in Northumberland located at Felton, Longframlington, Powburn, Longhoughton and Kirkharle Courtyard.

The Running Fox Afternoon Tea

The Running Fox afternoon tea is not like regular afternoon teas - there is no dainty cakes and finger sandwiches here! Think big doorstopper sandwiches, wedges of pie and cake and huge scones. You can also pick what sandwich, scone, savoury item and cake you would like from the menu. I much prefer this as I often find I don't like a lot of the sandwich fillings provided on other afternoon teas.

Afternoon Tea at The Running Fox costs £26.50pp they offer a traditional version and also a vegan or gluten free version. The afternoon teas consist of a sandwich, pie or quiche, cheese or fruit scone and a slice of cake from the counter - plus a pot of tea. All of the food is freshly made and a lot of it is baked by the Running Fox themselves.

They have so many delicious sounding sandwiches to choose from and you can have them on white or wholemeal bread. You can have your pie or quiche served hot or cold too. It all comes nicely presented on a cake stand as you would expect.

The portion sizes are very generous and I have never been able to finish a full afternoon tea and normally end up bringing half home with me. The staff are more than happy to offer you a box to bring left overs home with you.

Kirkhale Courtyard

We normally visited the Kirkhale Courtyard cafe and we like it here it is cosy and welcoming and you can have a look in the few little shops nearby. We have only ever visited here for afternoon tea but the other food they serve looks delicious so I need to visit and try that sometime too.

There is free on site parking and it is in a lovely countryside setting.
