Blaze And The Monster Machines Animal Island Stunts Speedway Review

My three-year-old son Jacob and 4-year-old daughter Sophia are huge Nick Jr fans and one shows that they both adore watching on there is Blaze and the Monster Machines. They have been watching this show for about a year now and they watch it every, single day as they love it that much. If you are not familiar with the show it is about a boy called AJ who rides in a monster truck - Blaze who talks and goes on quests with AJ and his friends (who are also Monster trucks). On their adventures, they solve lots of problems which they encourage the children watching to get involved with (such as basic maths) and it is a fun way for them to learn. My children can often be heard shouting out the answers at the TV whilst watching Blaze.

We already have a few of the small Blaze and the Monster Machine trucks which the children got in their stockings last Christmas and they play with the little trucks all of the time. So when we were recently asked if we would like to review the new Fisher-Price Blaze and the Monster Machines Animal Island Stunts Speedway set I knew this would be a huge hit with both of them.

This Fisher-Price Blaze playset is a large-scale track playset featuring Animal Island which is inspired by the new Wild Wheels theme from the TV show. The set comes in a big box and you do need to build the track, thankfully this was a lot quicker and easier then I thought it would be - we had it built within five minutes. The set comes with an exclusive Lion Blaze vehicle that you can use on the track, as I mentioned we do already have some small die-cast Blaze vehicles (they cost about a fiver each) and these work on the track too.

Once built the track does look rather impressive, it was much bigger than I expected and you can make it even bigger if you want too as it connects to the other Blaze and the Monster Machine track sets that are available to buy separately. As soon as my children set eyes on the Blaze set they could not wait to start playing and they had so much fun, they have spent hours playing with it and with four exciting stunts for Blaze to do on this track it definitely keeps them occupied.

Blaze can go soaring down the tumbling tree fall, which drops down when Blaze goes on it.

He can go down the vertical drop at the back or drive back up it again. He can go upside down on the S-Curve and over the rickety bridge at the end.

and lastly, he can race down the roaring falls crash through the gates to animal island.

Jacob loved the S-Curve and was amazed that when he pushed Blaze he travelled upside down before coming racing down the bridge at the bottom. He also loves pushing him down the waterfall and through the gates, he loves that you can just push Blaze somewhere on the track he will race down parts of the track. At 3 and 4 years old I think my children are the perfect age for a set like this as they are amazed by the tricks and really enjoy watching Blaze racing down the tracks.

It is also a set that is great for them to play with together - although you do only get the one vehicle with this set so bear that in mind as you will have to remember to buy a separate vehicle.

If you have a Blaze fan then they will love this Animal Island Stunts Speedway set for Christmas, especially as Animal Island and the Lion Blaze feature on the new Blaze and the Monster Machines episodes on TV. This set is recommended for children aged 3 + and has an RRP of £49.99 - although it is currently on offer at Smyths.

Disclosure I was sent this toy for the purpose of this review, however, all opinions are my own.

  13. Oh MAcsen would love this. A problem I find is that things come apart to easily and we end up losing bits. Is this sturdy?
