*Updated 2017 - Forever Memory Bears no longer seem to be in business. However I have seen lots of other companies make similar items. *
One of the things I loved in pregnancy was buying tiny cute outfits, it was exciting thinking my unborn child would soon be wearing them. The baby days pass by so quickly and soon those tiny newborn clothes don't fit anymore and even though they no longer fit, us parents find it so hard to part with some of the treasured clothes our little ones once wore. We often pack them away where they get forgotten about.
So when I was recently contacted by Forever Memory Bears and asked if I would like to get some of my son's old baby clothes turned into a bear I readily agreed. Picking the clothes was so hard as I have kept so many of his old baby clothes and you only need 7 items of newborn clothing to make a bear.
Ordering your bear is really easy as you just head to the website, select what kind of bear you would like as they also do a bunny, football bears, uniform bears and Loving memory bears - made from loved ones who have passed away clothing. You then place your order where you will be sent an e-mail straight away to fill in some details to make the bear personalised and let them know how many items of clothing you are sending.
You then post your clothing items off to the Forever Memory Bear Headquarters address, which is giving to you when you place your order. I sent mine via royal mail signed for. I then got notified that the items had arrived safely and just over a week later I got an e-mail to say my bear was complete and on his way home via courier.
The bear arrived in a gift box which was beautifully wrapped with ribbon and tissue paper and came complete with its own certificate. Nestled in the box was the most gorgeous bear, it was so much bigger then I thought that it would be at 34 cm when in a sitting position. The quality of the bear was amazing and I could not believe that it was made out of pieces of my son's clothing.
The bear has moveable arms and legs, buttons down his front and a lovely ribbon bow around his neck. Every bit of material used on the bear is pieces of Jacobs baby clothing that we sent.
I think it is such a lovely item that we can treasure forever and is such a lovely way to keep memories alive, rather than have special clothing stuffed away out of sight and forgotten about.
Bears start from £65 for a baby clothes bear like mine, but you can pay for extra features such as voice recording boxes that can be placed in the bear and for personalisation.
These are so gorgeou! What a lovely memento and lovely way to use those newborn clothes that never get that much wear. Wish I still had more of my daughter's!
