Bedtime Tips Plus Your Chance To Win A Hamper

Regular readers will know that my 18-month-old son is not the best sleeper and has only recently started sleeping all night. I have been very sleep deprived this last year and know oh so well that a bad nights sleep makes me a very grumpy mummy. We really have tried every sleep tip and trick out there with our little man and soon realised that what works for one baby won't necessarily work for another, as everyone is different.

This is a sentiment shared by Bed Guru an online bed retailer who understand that no two people share the same sleep requirements and that a good nights sleep means a happier, healthier and more focused you. This is all well and good but as many parents know sleep when you have young children can become something we sorely lack. I bet if you asked a group of parents what they miss most since having children quite a few would say sleep.

So Bed Guru asked me to help share some tips and the bedtime routine that now works for us in getting our little ones to sleep at night.

 Routine

I am a big fan of routine and both my little two have been in a bedtime routine since the day they came home from the hospital. They have some quiet time watching TV, bath, get dressed for bed, story, milk and bed. They know every night what to expect and we were really lucky that getting our children to sleep each night has been easy. It was keeping our son asleep that we found hard, as he used to wake a lot!

Tips

I could list all the typical things people say to get little ones to sleep such as using lavender bath products, checking the temperature, using blackout blinds etc but I am sure if you're a sleep-deprived parent you have already tried all of these. So from one sleep-deprived parent to another here are the tips that I found useful myself.

  • I honestly tried everything going to get my son to sleep better and I will be honest nothing at all worked. I would say trust your own instincts and just do what feels best for you and your child.
  • Remember that what works for one child won't always work for another child, both my girls slept from being young and even though we used the same techniques with our son nothing we tried worked.
  • It is o.k to want to scream at people who boast about their child (who is younger than yours) sleeping all night, just don't actually scream at them.
  • People will offer you non stop advice on getting your child to sleep and you have probably tried them all, ignore them.
  • Remember that someday your baby will sleep all night when you least expect it, so hang on in there as those sleepless nights will soon be a thing of the past.

The lovely people over at Bed Guru kindly sent me a hamper of goodies that will help me to relax and unwind once my children are safely tucked up in bed. The hamper contained Betty's tearoom tea, some yummy biscuits, a Yorkshire soap co candle (smells amazing), a Sally Hanson French manicure set and a coconut and Shea butter face mask. The perfect set of goodies to help me unwind in the evening ready for (hopefully) a good nights sleep.

The best part is that they have very kindly offered one of my readers the chance to win one of these hampers for themselves too, to help them unwind after a busy day. To be in with a chance of winning just enter via the Rafflecopter form below, T&C's apply (see below).

Good Luck.

  2. I tried to get both my two into a routine, easier said than done sometimes! Now if I could work out a way to stop the dog waking me up early in the morning I'd be sorted!
