Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Live Review

Last weekend my two pre-schoolers could not believe their luck when we went to see Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom live at Newcastle's beautiful Tyne theatre and opera house. They really did have the best time and even now a week later they are still talking about the show and keep asking when they can go and see it again. Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom is a popular children's TV show showing on Nick Jr and 5's Milkshake and is a show that my children adore and watch each morning and it has been turned into a stage show for pre-schoolers to enjoy.

Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom Live Tour 2017

This was the first time that I have taking my two-year-old son Jacob to any kind of show before and I was feeling a tad nervous as I did not think he would sit and watch the show. Thankfully I need not have worried as he loved the show and was mesmerised as soon as it started. The theatre was packed with excited young children and babies and every child was laughing and dancing along to the show throughout.

The stage is set up to look just like the Little Kingdom does in the TV show and the characters had perfect costumes with character heads to look just like the characters from the show. Everything and everyone was instantly recognisable to the young children in the audience. They even had the familiar theme tunes and songs on in the background, making you feel like you really were part of the Little Kingdom.

The show ran for around an hour and a half with a fifteen-minute interval, making it the perfect length for young children. From the moment the show started with Ben and Holly playing hide and seek and encouraging the children to join in they kept the audience captivated with games, songs and dancing. From helping Gaston the ladybird clean his cave, to joining Nanny Plum on a tooth fairy mission to organising King Elf's birthday the show was a delight to watch from start to finish. The looks on my children's faces as they sang along, joined in and watched on in amazement was totally priceless.

Of course, no Ben & Holly show would be complete without a jelly flood, which was, of course, a big hit with the audience. The show ended with a good old boogie and all the children from the audience joined in to dancing in the aisles and waving goodbye to the characters.

Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom Live Tour 2017

We really enjoyed the show and it was such a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon, the show was just the right length for young children and it is such a fun show that will keep them entertained throughout. Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom is touring the UK all summer to venues all over the country, so there is sure to be a show near you. Full details of the tour can be found on the Ben & Holly Live website. If you have a Ben & Holly fan then I highly recommend taking them to see this show as it is magical for children and a great introduction to the theatre for them.

Disclosure We were provided with complimentary tickets for the show for the purpose of this review, however, all views are my own.
