The circus has come to town and not just any old circus but the must-see Cirque Berserk, Zippos Circus have created a real circus just for theatre. Billed as Britains biggest theatre circus spectacular it has received rave reviews from the press and we were invited along to join in the fun at Newcastle's legendary Tyne Theater and Opera House.
Showcasing the finest in traditional circus thrills and skills, Cirque Berserk! celebrates the 250th anniversary of the invention of circus by bringing this treasured form of live entertainment bang up-to-date in a jaw-dropping spectacular created especially for the theatre. Combing contemporary cirque-style artistry with adrenaline-fuelled stunt action, this astoundingly talented international troupe includes over thirty jugglers, acrobats, aerialists, dancers, drummers and daredevil stuntmen. featuring the world's most hair-raising circus act - the legendary motorcycle 'Globe of Death'.
Announcement encouraging us to keep our phones turned on ready to take photos and videos of the show as we took our seats let us know that we were in for a good time. The show had acrobats, aerialists, slapstick humour, dancing, daredevil acts and was full of energy. We laughed, we gazed on in wonder, we held our breaths with fear and we cheered along as we were entertained by the brilliant cast of Cirque Berserk.
It was a show that the whole family will enjoy with something for everyone, you can not fail to be wowed by the acts and swept along with the fun and energy of the show. The show is recommended for children aged 6 plus, so I didn't take my youngest two children along (aged 3 & 5) although there were young children in the audience. I think my five year old would have enjoyed it but I do think a few of the scenes might have scared her a little so I do think the recommended age is spot on.
I have seen many circus shows over the years and this was without a doubt my most favourite one yet and I even preferred it to Cirque du Soleil. The second half of the show was packed with dancing, music and had a really fun vibe to it and I couldn't help but liking it the feel-good vibes of the greatest showman film.
Before we knew it almost two hours had passed and the show was coming to a close after some nail-biting motorcycle stunts in the Globe of Death - it was mesmerizing. Myself and my teen both left the theatre in high spirits wishing we could watch the show all over again, we enjoyed it that much.
If you haven't watched the show yet then be quick as there is still two performances of the show at the Tyne Theater and Opera House today (Sunday 24 June 2018) so be quick as it really is a must-see show that will have you on the edge of your seat and that you will be glad you went to see.
