This week on Other Bloggers Family Lives I am featuring Emma who blogs at The Money Whisperer. Emma blogs about a host of ways to make and save money and her blog is full of really useful tips on how to easily save money.
So let's find out more about the family behind The Money Whisperer.
1.) Tell me a bit about yourself and your family?
Hi, I'm Emma, I'm a mummy to two beautiful curly haired girls who are my pride and joy. My husband and I met in Australia while we were both working out there but moved home to England when our eldest daughter was born. We love being close to family again, especially while our girls are growing up.
2.) Where do you live?
We live in an old village on the outskirts of Milton Keynes. Milton Keynes gets a lot of stick for its concrete cows and roundabouts but it's actually an amazing place to live with children. A lot of newcomers to MK (that's what us locals call it) are moving up from London and they are amazed by how you can get anywhere in the city (we also call it a city when it isn't) in under 10 minutes and never sit in traffic.
3.) What is your favourite thing to do as a family where you live?
We have so much on our doorstep it's hard to choose! We are 10 minutes drive from Woburn safari park - we had annual passes for two years when our girls were toddlers and still go regularly. We can walk to Gulliver's theme park where there is also a splash zone and the Dino park / farm - we have an annual pass there at the moment. And we have beautiful parklands and playgrounds all so easily accessible from the Redway which is the purpose built cycle tracks which take the cyclists away from any traffic. We love doing all these things as a family, to be honest. An easy weekend is to cycle to our local lake where there is a huge playground. We like to go on the little train and see people sailing on the lake. I hope my girls enjoy water sports when they are older.
4.) If you could live anywhere where would you?
We lived in Melbourne when we met, in the 'life before kids' phase. It is the most incredible city, I just love Australia full stop but Melbourne will always have a special place in my heart. I would love to live there again but family ties are so strong and it's just so hard to think about moving so far away from our families when I see our children with their cousins and grandparents. The quality of life out there is so amazing for children but then you can't put a price on the impact a strong family bond has on a child when they are growing up. I wish I could transport all my family there with us or that Australia was closer.
5.) Did you grow up close to where you live now and what are your favourite childhood memories of where you grew up?
After living in London then Melbourne, I am back close to where I grew up. My favourite childhood memories are of walking to the woods at the weekends. We used to make route markers out of sticks and pinecones and go exploring and then find our way back by using our makeshift arrows. We often got lost! There was also a great rope swing in the middle of the woods and the challenge was to find it without getting really lost.
6.) Have you got any exciting family plans for the year ahead?
Our youngest is 4 so we are planning a skiing holiday for the first time. We have the Snozone indoor ski slope 5 minutes down the road so we are planning on taking some family ski lessons here to get us up to speed so that they can enjoy the slopes. I think they will enjoy tobogganing as much as skiing but everything about a skiing holiday is fun!
7.) What is your favourite thing about family life?
Unconditional love. Simples.

Lovely to find out a bit more about Emma - living 10 minutes from Woburn Safari Park must be such a saviour for something fun to entertain the children :)
