Pumpkin Patch UK Review

 AD

The people behind Family Fright Fest and Psycopath have launched a brand new Pumpkin Patch this year called Pumpkin Patch UK and we were invited along for opening weekend. Located at Lintz Hall farm in Burnopfield you will find Pumpkin Patch UK situated on the same site as sister events Psychopath and Family Fright Fest.

Pumpkin Patch UK

Arriving at Pumpkin Patch UK there is plenty of free on-site parking available. It is clearly signposted so you can see where to enter and entry is £3.00 per person, children under one  year of age are free. You can pre-book tickets in advance at www.familyfrightfestuk.co.uk/pumpkin-patch/ and Pumpkin Patch is open Saturday 14th, Sunday 15th, Saturday 21st, Sunday 22nd, Saturday 28th, Sunday 29th, Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st October 2023. It is open between 10am to 4pm on these dates.

On arrival you visit the kiosk at the entrance and get your wristband and then you are free to explore. Included in the entry price you get access to the Pumpkin Patch which has lots of lovely photo opportunities and you can buy pumpkins to take home (priced between £2-£12), you get access to a pumpkin carving area if you do buy a pumpkin and wish to carve it there. There is also live singers, bouncy castle, a pumpkin colouring hunt and face painters.

There is also a few small fairground rides at a small extra charge and a Thomas the Tank engine train ride which was £2.50 per person. There is also food and drink stalls from Acropolis Greek, Meat Stack, Truely Madly Pizza, Poco Loco Mexican, Delectable Coffee, a Sweet stall, a donut and waffle van, an ice cream van and a bar.

There was benches dotted around so you could enjoy your food and there was undercover areas too if it rains. There is also toilets on site - much needed if visiting with kids.

The Pumpkin Patch

The Pumpkin Patch UK is a fairly small Pumpkin Patch and it is enclosed making it ideal for slightly younger children. You enter the Pumpkin Patch through the teepee and then collect a wheelbarrow to collect your pumpkins in. Once in the patch there are lots of photo opportunities and fun wooden sculptures and spooky touches to look at.

They have different pumpkins dotted around the patch for you to pick from. Some are just on the ground some are pilled up in wheelbarrows or on a big trailer on the back of a tractor, there was a lot of pumpkins.

It was a little bit muddy when we visited so I would recommend wearing wellies or boots when you visit. They have tried to cover it with straw but it is a field so it will get muddy at times as to be expected.

My children (aged 9 and 10) enjoyed spending time in the pumpkin patch and looking to see what pumpkin they wanted and pushing the wheelbarrows around.

Once you have picked your pumpkins you then head back into the teepee where you can pay for your pumpkins. Once you have paid you can either just take them home to carve or go into the carving area to carve them there and then.

What We Thought

The children enjoyed the visit to Pumpkin Patch UK, they loved picking pumpkins and all the things that they discovered in the patch. We also really liked that everything was in one place and that there was a good choice of food and drink options available. We tried pizzas (£9) burritos (£6.50) and some sweets (£2 a bag) during our visit and thought the prices were reasonable.

While my children did enjoy the visit and had a nice time I do think that this Pumpkin Patch is probably best suited to slightly younger children (aged 7 and under) simply because all of the rides were for younger children. I also think the fact the patch and site is smaller is great for younger children too. However we did still have a nice time if your children are a little bit older like mine it is still worth a visit. I think it would be great as a extra activity to do when visiting Family Fright Fest which is right next to Pumpkin Patch UK.

I have a video of  Pumpkin Patch UK over on my TikTok channel Newcastle Family Life , I also post North East day out ideas over on my Facebook and Instagram so why not give me a follow.
