Brocksbushes Pumpkin Patch

 AD

Autumn is here and that means one thing all thing's pumpkin related! Pumpkin Patches are getting so popular and there is a few here in the North East now, one of which is Brocksbushes Farm Pumpkin Patch in Northumberland. We visited at the weekend, read on to find out what we thought.

Brocksbushes Pumpkin Patch - Pumpkin Scarecrow

Brocksbushes Farm

Brocksbushes Farm is located near Corbridge in Northumberland, about a 20 minute drive up the A69 from Newcastle. There is plenty of free onsite parking available. It is super popular in the summer for fruit picking and it also hosts lots of family friendly events throughout the year.

Brocksbushes have a farm shop selling lots of gifts, baked goods, fresh fruit and vegetables and food items. It also has a popular milkshake vending machine - we got two and the kids loved them!

It also has a tea room which we also visited for lunch and was really nice. It serves jacket potatoes, pies and quiches, sandwiches and omelettes, as well as kids meals and some rather delicious cakes and sweet treats.

Pumpkin Patch

This was the first time we had visited Brocksbushes Pumpkin Patch and we loved it! When you get there you are met with a row of lovely pastel coloured wheelbarrows, once you have picked a wheelbarrow you head to the kiosk to show your tickets to enter. Tickets must be prebooked online in advance at www.brocksbushes.co.uk and cost £2 per person (under 3s are free) this is just the entry fee and you do need to pay for the pumpkins you pick separately at the end.

The Pumpkin Patch is open the 7th and 8th October, 14th and 15th October and then daily from 20th to 31st October 2023. Some dates are already sold out so if you want to visit be sure to book your tickets quick!

On entry there is a big sign with the prices of the pumpkins - small ones were £2, medium were £4, large £6.50 and the biggest monster ones £8. I thought these prices were really clear and reasonable so you can easily work out how much you have spent so you don't go over budget.

There is so much attention to detail with lots of Halloween decorations wherever you look. There are so many photo opportunities too from spooky pianos to spider haybales. There was a slide, pumpkin bowling and noughts and crosses games for the children (and adults) to enjoy.

The Pumpkin patch was huge, much bigger than I thought it would be. It had so many different types of pumpkins, all different shapes, sizes and colours. My daughters loved hunting in the patch to see what Pumpkins they wanted to bring home with us.

We spent about a hour in the Pumpkin Patch but could easily have spent much longer.

Once you have picked your Pumpkins you then head to the exit which is in a big indoor area, there are checkouts where you pay for your pumpkins and there are size guides so you can check what size your pumpkins are and how much you will be paying. They also have pumpkin carving kits for sale, we got one and I think it was only a couple of pounds.

There are lots of tables and chairs in the indoor area where you can stay and carve your pumpkin if you want, it has rubbish bags and stencils and everything on the tables for you. I think this is a great idea and if we didn't have to rush off I would definitely have stayed to do this.

They also had all the different Pumpkins on display so you could see which one you had bought and what it was called - I had no idea there was so many different varieties!

They had a face painter and some small fairground rides which were a small extra charge. There was a outdoor drinks tent too if you wanted to grab a drink after pumpkin picking.

 What We Thought

We really enjoyed the Pumpkin Patch at Brocksbushes Farm, there was so much attention to detail and the event was really well organised. There was so many pumpkins to choose from and the pumpkin patch was huge.

We really liked that you can also visit the tearoom and have some lunch before / after pumpkin picking. We enjoyed the jacket potatoes and toasties that we ordered and the cakes and hot chocolates were delicious. The farm shop was also really nice and we got some Halloween sweets to take home for the children as well as the milkshakes from the machine.

It was a really nice day and we enjoyed ourselves, we will definitely be rebooking for next year. If you are looking for a Pumpkin Patch in Northumberland than I would definitely recommend Brocksbushes Pumpkin Patch as a fun day out for the whole family.
