Family Fright Fest

 AD

Looking for a spooky Halloween themed day out in the North East? Well Family Fright Fest is the perfect Halloween themed family day out for the whole family. Located at Lintz Hall Farm in Burnopfield - on the same site as the popular adult event Psychopath you will find Family Fright Fest. Read on to find out everything you need to know.

What Is Family Fright Fest

Family Fright Fest is a family friendly Halloween day out in the North East of England. Located on the exact same site as Psychopath it uses some of the same scare mazes but they have obviously been tamed down for children. It is on during weekends in October  between 11am - 4pm  and is aimed at families with children aged between 1-12 years of age.

There are three different scare mazes to explore, stage shows, a wizard workshop, tons of photo opportunities, a pick your own pumpkin patch (each child gets a free pumpkin), fun and games, character meet and greets, fancy dress prizes. They also have a fair ground with rides for the whole family (extra charge applies) and some great street food vendors with Redheads mac n cheese, acropolis Greek, fish and chips, donuts, pizzas and burgers on offer.

There is lots to see and do and get you in the Halloween spirit, with plenty of free onsite parking. A lot of it is outdoors so make sure you wear wellies or boots as it can get muddy but there are also some indoor areas too if the weather gets bad.

What We Thought

We visited with children aged nine and ten years of age and they loved it! This was our second year visiting and both times we have had a lovely day. A lot of people dress up (grown ups and children) but if that is not your thing then normal clothes are fine too.

The scare mazes were highlights for my children, I-Scream is the children's favourite maze. There is lots of attention to detail on the site so wherever you look there are spooky things to see or do. We loved all of the photo opportunities dotted around all over the place.

It obviously is meant to be scary but no-one touches you or jumps out on you and all of the costumes the staff wear are suitable for children - there is nothing that will terrify them. It is just a spooky, fun, family day out.

Everything is optional you can just make your way around at your own pace and if you don't want to do a maze or something that is fine you don't have to. There was shows on - magic shows, singing etc. They also had a wizard workshop where you can make potions and things too.

Each child gets a free pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, which is nice and wasn't too muddy as they covered the floor with straw.

The Fearground fairground was also a highlight for my children, it has rides for smaller children and bungee trampolines and rides for older children / adults. Rides are an extra charge  starting at £2pp for the smaller ones.

They have a great range of different food vendors, we got mac n cheese from Redheads which the children really enjoyed.

We spent a few hours at Family Fright Fest and could definitely have spent longer there if we didn't have prior commitments. I would recommend if your looking for a fun Halloween family day out this October. You could even combine it with a visit to Pumpkin Patch UK which is located right next door.
