Did you know that there is a bowling alley inside Eldon Square shopping centre right in the heart of Newcastle city centre? Located upstairs in the Eldon Leisure complex above the greys quarter dining area you will fine Gorilla Bowl right next door to the soft play. The central city centre location make it perfect for a fun activity with friends or family when in Newcastle. 

I was invited along with my children (aged 8 & 9) and we had tons of fun. There are 8 tenpin bowling lanes and the decor is bright and cheerful. There is also other activities available such as darts, pool, table tennis, arcade games and even a karaoke room. There is a bar for drinks and there are tons of food choices downstairs in greys quarter such as Umai Mi if you want to make a day or night of it. 

It is open 7 days a week from 12pm until late, during the day it is a family friendly venue but after 7pm it is adults only. We visited on a weekday during half-term and it was really busy - there was a queue of people to get in. So I would recommend booking in advance online here if your planning on visiting during busy times. 

On arrival we checked in at the desk at the bar area and directed to our lanes. Bowling shoes are available but when we visited everyone was just wearing their own shoes. You can easily put the bumpers up if playing with kids and there was plenty of ramps available for children (or adults) to use. Prices depend on how many games you are playing but when I checked (June 2023) it was £7.50 per child for 2 games and £10 per adult for two games of bowling. I would recommend keeping an eye on Gorilla Bar and Bowling Facebook page as they sometimes post special offers. 

We played two games of bowling and the children enjoyed it, we felt like two games was just right for us as the kids were starting to get competitive. I would recommend a visit if your looking for something to do in Newcastle with the kids. We enjoyed it and I am sure we will visit again in the future.
