Other Bloggers Family Lives Featuring A Rose Tinted World

This week on Other Bloggers Family Lives I am joined by Jo who blogs at A Rose Tinted World. Jo lives near Leeds with her partner and little girl and she blogs about being an older mother, stress busting, sewing and her family life. So let's find out more about the family behind A Rose Tinted World.

Blogger A Rose Tinted World and her daughter

1.) Tell me a bit about yourself and your family?

I'm Jo, an almost 47-year-old mum to an almost 3-year-old little girl, E. I live with my partner who is a teacher and my two cats. About a year ago I decided to take a career break from being a dentist to concentrate on being a mum and having a rest from being constantly stressed. I have also recently begun sewing. My blog is about being an older mum and the problems that brings, sewing, stress-busting ideas and lots more.

2.) Where do you live?

We live in a suburb of Leeds. I do really like the place where I live, it still has quite a 'village' feel and a great community spirit.

3.) What is your favourite thing to do as a family where you live?

There is lots to do round and about us. As E is still not quite 3, she finds a lot of wonder in the simple things, like running in the park and exploring. There are lots of nature trails and wildlife reserves within walking distance of where we live, she loves going there. There are lots of green spaces and walks. Leeds itself is home to some fabulous museums such as Royal Armouries. And we are a short rail or car journey from the Yorkshire Dales. E loves going on a train.

4.) If you could live anywhere where would you?

I actually really love where we are. The only thing I would change is to have more rooms (a sewing room would be brilliant) and a garden for E. At the moment we have a yard space.

5.) Did you grow up close to where you live now and what are your favourite childhood memories of where you grew up?

I grew up about 2 miles from where I live now. My family still live in Leeds and we are all very close. My brother has a little girl who was born only 4 months before E, so my mum who had probably given up on the idea of grandchildren suddenly found she had 2!

My favourite memories from childhood are of playing around the estate I grew up on with my friends in the late 70s. Roller boots and skateboards were the latest thing, we spent a lot of time with grazed knees and elbows.

6.) Have you got any exciting family plans for the year ahead?

I am currently hoping to set up a little business selling my sewing wares. I may be thinking of going back to work, but I am still contemplating what direction to take next. I am sure we will be having lots of fun as a family going to new places and watching E enjoy learning lots of new things.

7.) What is your favourite thing about family life?

I just love seeing my little girl find out about the world and everything in it. She loves reading and doing crafts like most 3-year-olds and I really enjoy doing this with her. It is also absolutely brilliant to see the man I love being a brilliant father to our gorgeous girl. We love doing things together.

Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions Jo, I bet that was such a surprise for your mum to get two grandchildren at once. It sound's lovely where you live and like you are really making the most of the time off with your daughter while she is small.

  1. Great post. As someone that also lives in a suburb outside of Leeds I an 100% agree with the comment about how it feels (and the importance) of having that community feel.

  4. Oh I love this interview. Young children are a joy to watch because of their wonder in the simple things. Even at 4 my son's innocence still surprises me.
