This week I am featuring fellow North East blogger Carol from Family Makes on Other Bloggers Family Lives. Carol blogs about her family life, her holiday home in France, travel, crafts and reviews. So let's find out more about the family behind Family Makes.
1.) Tell me a bit about yourself and your family?
We're a family of four - Mum, Dad and two boisterous boys, Hugo who is 10 and Toby who is 8. We also have a very friendly cat, Poppy and a crazy miniature Labradoodle, Daphne. We live in the North East but both our boys were born in Scotland. We moved back 'home' (for me) when I had to have some heart surgery, I am now medically retired and a stay-at-home Mum.
2.) Where do you live?
We live in the North East, Teeside, right by the coast.
3.) What is your favourite thing to do as a family where you live?
As we are so close to the sea I have to say we love going to the beach with the dog, although we don't go as often as we should, due to the boy's sporting commitments and the fact I'm fairly immobile. Sometimes I drive and meet the rest of the family there for ice cream or fish and chips!
4.) If you could live anywhere where would you?
We really miss living in the countryside in Scotland, we would love to back North of the Border one day. We also have holiday gites in France and have considered living out there, but there's something which keeps us here. I think it's the language barrier, and the creepy crawlies are much bigger in France too!
5.) Did you grow up close to where you live now and what are your favourite childhood memories of where you grew up?
Yes, I grew up exactly where we live now, all my family are still here too. I have great memories of playing on 'my' beach, in the rock pools and the sand dunes, the same places my own children love visiting now.
6.) Have you got any exciting family plans for the year ahead?
We went skiing in New England in February, we were married in New England and haven't been back there in several years. We will be visiting our gites in France, in the Poitou-Charentes, a couple of times. Daddy will visit more as there is always lots of DIY to be done!
7.) What is your favourite thing about family life?
I love most things about family life, although I must admit it can be really hard work and exhausting! My boys are learning so quickly, they are really clever and are developing their own personalities and sense of humour. I love it when they just 'get it' - they are becoming really sophisticated in their understanding and conversation, they come out with some hilarious things. They can be very cheeky too! Never a dull moment in our house.
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions Carol, despite living so close I have never actually visited Teeside before - I really should soon. I hope you had a wonderful time skiing and enjoy your time in France at your holiday home in the summer.
