Other Bloggers Family Lives Featuring Mummascribbles

Welcome to another week of Other Bloggers Family Lives, this week I am featuring the lovely Lisa from Mummascribbles. I have been reading Lisa's blog for years and it is all about her family life with her two boys and juggling work and motherhood.

Mummascribbles

So let's find out more about the family behind Mummascribbles.

1.) Tell me a bit about yourself and your family?

Our family consists of myself, my other half Dean and our gorgeous boy's Zachary who is 4 and baby Oscar. We are the humans of the house! Alongside us are two rabbits called Magic and Coco and some tropical fish (who aren't named!).

2.) Where do you live?

We live in Hertfordshire. We both grew up in London, although I was more on the outskirts of Essex and we spent 3 years renting a little flat in East London. When it came to buying a house we couldn't afford to stay in London so looked further afield. I am actually so glad that we were priced out of London as I much prefer where we live now.

3.) What is your favourite thing to do as a family where you live?

We are very fortunate that we have a lot of stuff around us. We live within walking distance of an entrance to a huge country park which is beautiful for a walk, it has a canal lock that Zach loves watching the boats pass through. We can stand there for 20 minutes and he'll just be watching how it all works. We also have an amazing wildlife park in one direction which is full of tigers, lions and other beautiful animals and a fantastic farm in the other direction. Out of those three places, I don't think I could pick a favourite!

4.) If you could live anywhere where would you?

Further out into the country. I have always loved the countryside and would be more than happy to live somewhere where constant wellies are a must. It took some persuading for the other half to leave London behind so where we are right now is perfect in terms of commuting into work and being close to our families. That said, ever since we moved he too has fallen a little in love with the countryside and does now say that he can one day see himself moving further out.

5.) Did you grow up close to where you live now and what are your favourite childhood memories of where you grew up?

I did yes. The house I grew up in is 15 minutes away and my mum still lives there. We purposefully had to stay within reachable distance of mum as she looked after Zach three days a week since he was 10 months old. My favourite childhood memories? Mum's house backs onto a reservoir and on the grass, hilly bits live sheep, springtime, playing out in the garden and watching the little lambs jumping around was lovely. It still is lovely and is now something Zach enjoys watching too. In terms of the actual town there is nothing particularly exciting about it but having lived there for 23 years, I guess it will always hold special memories. I always drive past my old school and remember the walk there every day, up a massive hill! It's the little things that make somewhere home.

6.) have you got any exciting family plans for the year ahead?

I am on maternity leave so lots of walks exploring lovely places is high on my list. Hopefully, maybe, we will be able to squeeze some kind of trip or holiday in somewhere but that will be very much dependent on finances!

7.) What is your favourite thing about family life?

Doing fun things! Because we both work we always try and have fun on weekends. It does not always happen as some weekends things need doing around the house, most of the time we have at least one day where we try and get out. I love taking Zach to fun places and seeing him have fun. For me his happiness is most important, so anything that makes him run wild with a huge grin on his face makes me happy. Even if it is just to the pub at the end of the road with the bouncy castle.

Thank you so much for taking part Lisa, I loved reading your answers and finding out more about your life in Hertfordshire. It sounds really lovely where you live with so much to do, my little ones would love living near a farm and wildlife park. I hope you enjoy every second of your maternity leave with your boys and manage to get a trip away at some point this year.
