Psychopath Event Review

 AD

Do you love a good scare? If so read on to find out all about Psychopath the North East's biggest scream park. If you like scary movies, horror, scares, thrills and want to experience something that will get your heart pounding then read on to find out what all the hype is about.

What Is Psychopath?

Psychopath is an event held at Lintz Hall farm near Burnopfield in Durham, about a 30 minute drive from Newcastle. It is a Scream Park with several super scary attractions for you to explore that are filled with actors dressed in rather gruesome and frightful costumes. As well as the attractions there are also stage shows, fairground rides and food and drink stalls - meaning you can make a night of it.

It is outdoors and starts in the evening which adds to the scariness of the whole event. It is not for the faint hearted as it is designed to terrify you and people will jump out on you when you least expect it. But it is good fun and is ideal to visit with a group of friends for a scaretastic night out, it certainly beats sitting in a bar.

I have tried not to give too much away in this review as I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone who is going.

What We Thought

Hands up I am a wimp and don't do horrors or anything scary, my teenage daughter loves them though so she reviewed Psychopath for me. She is 19 and visited with her friend who is also 19 and they had a brilliant time, if you have older teens then they will probably love it too. Only over 13's can visit and anyone aged 13-16 must be accompanied by an adult.

There was onsite parking and you enter Psychopath via the red dragon entrance which leads you down a pitch black corridor. You then collect your wristbands for the event and off you go for an evening of scares. Actors are dressed in an array of fearsome costumes and will creep up on you when you least expect it, my teen got chased by a clown with a chainsaw (I only wish I could have seen it myself).

There are different attractions dotted around the event and the staff at the doors don't tell you what you are walking into and encourage you to find out yourself. The pirate ship and corn maze were particular favourites on the night as they are so dark and plenty of people jump out and give you a fright.

All the scare attractions are included in the entry price, they do have a fairground that is an extra charge with rides such as waltzers. There was also a bar, a hot drink trailer and a range of food stalls. Chloe got fat hippo burgers and dirty fries £11 (delicious) and some churros £6 and prices were around what you would expect from a street food van.

Overall it was a good night and she would recommend to anyone in the lead up to Halloween - but be prepared to scream like never before.

Need To Know

You need to pre-book tickets in advance from the Psychopath website (be quick as they are selling fast). Tickets cost between £20-£42 each depending on when you buy them. VIP Tickets are also available and cost £82 and allow you to queue jump the attractions and get a complimentary drink and T-Shirt. Onsite parking is free and the main attractions and stage shows are included in your ticket price.

The fairground rides cost extra and you can buy food and drink - some take card and some you need to buy tokens for. There are plenty of seats and toilets onsite too and if you get chilly being outdoors there are firepits dotted around. It is outdoors so make sure you wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear as you will be chased, also bring spare shoes for the journey home as you might get muddy.

It is open 5pm - 11pm and if you want to experience everything arrive early as there can be queues for some of the attractions. Also be aware that photos and videos are not allowed in any of the attractions during your visit.

Overall she had a great night and she has said she will be returning next year as she enjoyed it that much. Let me know if your brave enough to visit in the comments below.
