10 Pantomimes To See In The North East This Christmas

As a family we love nothing more than a family day out at the panto each year, it always gets us in the festive spirit and is something we can all enjoy together. I love watching the kids face light up, watching them shout 'he's behind you' and giggle at all the slapstick humour that panto brings. For the past few years, we have always headed to Whitley Bay Playhouse to see Blue Genies Pantomime production as they are perfect for young families and it is local to where we live - plus I highly recommend it as it is always a great show.

If you're looking for a festive pantomime to see here in the North East this year then I thought I would put together this little guide to what pantomimes are on this year as we all know they can get booked up super early!

Whitley Bay Playhouse - Jack and the Beanstalk

As previously mentioned we love the pantomime at Whitley Bay Playhouse, the theatre is perfect for young kids as it is not too big and there is plenty of room to get up and shout 'he's behind you'. My little boy adores Steve Walls Ghostbusters scenes (if you know, you know) and Blue Genie the production team behind the pantos do a fantastic job. You can read what we thought of last years production of Peter Pan or 2017's Cinderella

This year's show is Jack and the Beanstalk and it is starting playhouse legend Steve Walls, Ashley Butler and her dog Sully (BGT fame) and Molly Scott from the X-Factor along with Playhouse favourites Damian Patton and Dame Patsy Trott.

The show is running from Saturday 30th November 2019 until Saturday the 4th January 2020. Tickets start at £18.65 and can be purchased now from the Playhouse box office or online at www.playhousewhitleybay.co.uk where you can find out more details.

The Tyne theatre is such a lovely theatre and always feels like such a treat visiting this grand historic building. We went to see Snow White here a couple of years ago.

Set in the heart of Newcastle city centre the Theatre Royal always puts on popular Christmas panto.
