Looking for an afternoon tea in Newcastle with the wow factor? Then I know just the place. Victors located on the Quayside in Newcastle serves an afternoon tea that certainly has the wow factor as it comes complete with sparklers!
Victors is a beautiful restaurant and bar with a wisteria ceiling, heated terrace and modern dining area. It serves meals, afternoon teas and cocktails perfect for a catch up with friends or a date night in Newcastle.
We visited on a weekday lunch time and the restaurant had groups or friends, families and couples dining. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff. We had prebooked the afternoon tea in advance online and you have the choice of a classic or vegetarian option. It is currently priced at £32.50 per person (it was slightly cheaper when we visited).
Afternoon Tea
On arrival you get to pick what tea you would like and this is unlimited throughout the visit or you can upgrade and get a glass of champagne with your tea. We just had the tea on this occasion.
You get finger bun sandwiches, freshly made scones with cream and jam and a selection of mini cakes with the afternoon tea. We also got sushi with our tea but the menu has changed and I am not sure if that is still included.
The afternoon tea arrived on a big ice covered platter which was smoking and it had big sparklers on - it was certainly eye catching. The presentation was really nice and the afternoon tea almost looked too good to eat.
We had a small platter each with the sandwiches on which were a egg and cress with truffle mayonnaise, Smoked salmon with cream cheese, caviar and lemon zest and avocado hummus and feta - all three were served on brioche finger buns.
Freshly baked fruit scones served with clotted cream and jam and a assortment of mini sweet treats completed the tea. We had pistachio cheesecake, caramel banana cake, mini ice-cream cones with curd and raspberry meringues and a mini fruit tart.
The new afternoon tea has some changes it has included a ham and mustard and a turkey and avocado finger sandwich. Some of the sweet treats have changed too and now include a chocolate and hazelnut cookie and a key lime and strawberry cheesecake.
What We Thought
The presentation was amazing - the most creative and eye catching afternoon tea I have ever seen.
The afternoon tea was nice but it was very rich and we did struggle to finish it all. Some of the sandwiches were not to my taste but that is just personal preference and they have changed some of them since we visited. I probably wouldn't return for an afternoon tea but that is simply because it wasn't to my taste but I would return to Victors as the main menu food looks delicious and the service and setting were both great.
The scones and the sweet treats were delicious - especially the banana cake and fruit tarts.
If you are looking for somewhere for an afternoon tea for a birthday or celebration that's a bit different then I would recommend Victors. It is on the pricey side but you are paying for the experience as well as the food. The afternoon tea certainly has the wow factor and will make lovely Instagram and TikTok content.
