We visited Miller and Carter Gosforth Park for the first time recently and I am already planning on revisiting as it was lush! I had wanted to visit for ages but wrongly thought that it was super expensive with it being a steak restaurant, yes there are some expensive things on the menu but there are also a lot of reasonable priced items too. They also do a good value lunchtime menu which was £15.95 for three courses, personally I think that is very good value.
As it was our third wedding anniversary we decided to visit Miller and Carter to celebrate and the lunchtime menu was perfect, as like a lot of people we are watching the pennies at the moment but still wanted to visit somewhere nice. It also worked well as it meant we could visit when the children were at school and it is very local to where we live.
Miller and Carter Gosforth park is near the Gosforth Park racecourse, towards Dobbies garden centre and Sandylane in the new (ish) housing estate, there was plenty of free onsite parking. We booked a couple of hours in advance online and there was a little box to say if you were visiting for a special occasion and we put wedding anniversary in, when we arrived there was a plate with strawberries on saying happy anniversary on the table which was a nice gesture.
Despite being a weekday lunch-time the restaurant was fairly busy but we were seated straight away and the service throughout was great. Dining during the day you are giving the choice of the lunch or main menu, we went for lunch menu which is £12.95 for two courses or £15.95 for three.
My husband Lee went for the chargrilled chorizo in tomato salsa, chilli and toasted ciabatta.
There was a choice of nine main meals, from healthy salads, vegan dishes, fish dishes and burgers to steaks and pasta. I decided to get the steak sandwich, this dish did have a £3 supplement on it, but I felt it was worth it. It was a toasted ciabatta filled with tender steak fillets, mayonnaise and onion loaf. Served with a portion of seasoned fries and a pot of beef dripping sauce. The server asks how you want your steak cooked and I am a well done type of girl and it was cooked perfectly for me. My main was delicious and I will be getting it again when we revisit, it was that good.
My husband ordered the 50 day aged steak frites served medium rare, served with a portion of seasoned fries, onion loaf and glazed tomato. Again his dish did have a £3 supplement.
Both of our mains were really tasty and cooked exactly how we wanted them to be. You can order a range of sides to go with the meals which are 3 for £10, we were tempted but I am glad we didn't as we were really full from our meals.
There was three choices of dessert on the lunchtime menu salted caramel profiteroles, apple pie and custard or ice cream and cookie. Both of us got the apple pie with custard. It came as a individual warm apple pie with a little pan of custard on the side, delicious.
As we visited at a lunch-time we only had soft drinks and they were less then £3 per drink. Our total bill for three course lunch each, two soft drinks each came to £47 which I personally thought was good value.
Our meal was lovely it was tasty, good portion sizes and cooked exactly how we asked. The service was professional and welcoming. We will certainly be returning and I would recommend a visit to anyone, I can't believe it took me so long to visit as it has been there for a few years now and it is just a five minute drive from where we live. We have already agreed to take the kids for lunch in the summer holidays as they have a children's menu that I think they will love.

We have a Miller and Carter here in Scunthorpe, I have always thought about visiting but thought all they served was steak and I'm not too keen on it. The food looks amazing and it sounds like you had a lovely time. x
