Dining Out With Teens - Thaikhun Metrocentre

AD - Invited.

I was invited along to Thaikhun in the Metrocentre and decided to take my teen along with me. I think that Thaikhun is a great place to dine with teens as it is relaxed, has interesting decor and yummy food.

I have visited Thaikhun in the Metrocentre a few times, we have dined there as a family, as a couple and we also attended a cooking class there.

We recently visited on a Sunday afternoon during half-term and it was fairly busy but we were seated straight away by our friendly server and presented with menus. I had planned on ordering off the new menu but I am such a creature of habit and ended up ordering my favourite chicken pad thai (£10.50) which is always my go-to dish as it is just so yummy. Thai rice noodles, stir-fried with egg, spring onions, sweet turnip, bean sprouts, tofu, chicken, peanuts and vegetables in a tamarind sauce.

My teen was torn between the two recommended dishes on the menu of Thai Chicken Katsu and the Bangkok Bad Boy Burger. In the end, she went for the Thai Chicken Katsu (£11). Crumbed chicken breast served with jasmine rice and a massaman curry sauce and a salad garnish, it was a generous sized portion. She really enjoyed her meal.

I was too stuffed for pudding but the teen always has room for desserts, all desserts were priced at £5 each and there were classics such as Mango sticky rice and chocolate fudge cake on there along with clementine tarts, coconut milk pudding and Unicorn ice cream- which promises to be something a little magical. The teen went for the Buttermilk pancake stack with Nutella and vanilla ice cream, it came smothered in Nutella and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top to melt into the gooeyness.

The food and service was, as always perfect and we spent a really enjoyable hour and a half enjoying a leisurely lunch and catching up. If you have teens then I really do recommend visiting Thaikhun with them as my own daughter has already asked me when can we return.

  1. It sounds like you had a lovely afternoon with your teen. I bet it was a much needed treat with her GCSE's. The food looks so good, especially those pancakes x
