A Pizza Party At The Astley Arms

Recently my little boy turned four and as part of his birthday celebrations, we headed to our local Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery pub The Astley Arms, in Seaton Sluice. Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery have recently launched Pizza Parties which are the perfect way to celebrate a child's birthday as it is something a bit different and lots of fun and we were asked if we like to go along and try them out - perfect timing.

As a family, we often visit The Astley Arms for a carvery and my brother visits often for buffet breakfasts, it is a lovely pub opposite Seaton Sluice beach and play park.

What is a pizza party?

The Pizza Party is a chance for children to become little pizza chefs for the day, they get to decorate their own pizza to eat and have some pizza related fun. Parties last around an hour and a half and you will have a party host who will keep everything running smoothly and they even provide goody bags and balloons at the end.

The parties are in partnership with Ribena Minis so each child gets a Ribena Mini to drink on arrival, which went down well.

What is included?

  • Invitations - you can either collect from the venue or print at home
  • Disposable aprons
  • Mini chef hats
  • Mini kids Margherita pizza base plus two toppings of their choice to decorate
  • Bottomless ice cream or orange segments for dessert
  • Ribena mini blackcurrant drink
  • Stonehouse Pizza Party activity sheet
  • Balloon and goody bag to take home

Parties last for around one and a half hours and cost only £6.99 per child, you need a minimum of five guests and a maximum of twelve. They are recommended for children aged 4-10 years of age and are available to book Monday to Saturdays.

What we thought

On arrival at Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery The Astley Arms we were warmly greeted and showing to the party area which was all set up for the party. There were little chef hats and aprons on the table. The staff who were running the party were so lovely and amazing with the children, they really made them and us adults feel welcome. We had five guests at the party, my own children and my nieces and they all had such a brilliant time.

The children got to create their own pizza with two toppings of their choice which was lots of fun. Once the pizzas were cooked the children got to enjoy their creations with a side of chips and they could also help themselves to some salad from the salad bar too.

The children were also entertained with some pizza activities such as watching the chef make proper pizzas and tossing their own pizza dough and colouring in a pizza-themed activity sheet. As well as filling their tummies with yummy pizza, chips and salad they also got to create their own ice cream from the ice cream machine.

enjoying pizza at party

It was a really lovely party and I think the fact it was something fun and a bit different really appealed to them and us parents.

At the end of the party, the children all received a goody bag and a balloon which they obviously loved and was a nice way to end the party. As a parent I really liked this party, we simply turned up on the day and had no food or goody bags to prepare as they were all provided, it was totally stress-free as the party hosts took care of everything. I also think for just £6.99 per child it is amazing value for a child's party as a soft-play party will cost you double and in my opinion is not as good as this party was. Not once did the children say they were bored and they all really enjoyed the food.

We were so impressed that we will be booking Sophias next birthday here as it really was such a fun afternoon. One of the other parents is planning on booking her daughter a pizza party too as they were that impressed. If you are looking at booking a party for your own child's birthday then I really do recommend a Stonehouse Pizza Party, it was fun, it was different, everything was taking care of and it was amazing value. You find can out more about the pizza making parties and book at www.stonehouserestaurants.co.uk

If you are not local to Seaton Sluice then you can also book at other Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery branches, such as The Goose in Newcastle or The Mermaid in Redcar or you can check other regions on the website.

Disclosure I received a complimentary party for the purpose of this review, however, all opinions are my own.
