Jungle Jacks Soft Play At Eldon Leisure Newcastle

The summer holidays have been a bit of a washout here in the North East with lots of rainy days and not many sunny days. I am sure now we are into the third week of the summer holiday's that there have been many shouts of "I'm bored" from the children of the North East. Well, I have discovered a brilliant new place right in the heart of Newcastle that will appeal to children young and old, the newly refurbished Eldon leisure complex.

Situated upstairs in Eldon Square the centre has been part of a £3 million development project which includes an upgraded gym, 8 lane ten pin bowling alley, Vertigo climbing area and Jungle Jacks soft play as well as two cafes. We were invited to try out the new facilities and we decided to try out the new soft play, as my baby and toddler adore trips to the soft play.

As soon as we got out of the lift and entered the new leisure complex we were greeted by staff at the large reception desk. We were then directed to the soft play area which you need a security code for the door's to get into, making it safer for little children as you have to pass through two sets of security doors to enter the soft play. My first impressions of the soft play were that it is just the right size for young children as it is not too big and not too small, making it perfect for children to run around whilst parents can keep a close eye on them.

The soft play is bright and colourful and very clean. When you enter there is a small cafe to the left serving drinks and snack and tables dotted around the room close to the equipment so you can see what your children are doing. There was a small baby area which consisted of an enclosed padded play area with a few toys in and a small ball pool. Jacob who is aged 11 months loved this area and he happily sat in the ball pool for half an hour playing away.

There is a toddler area which again is on padded mats and this had climbing frames, tunnels and slides as well as some activities for little ones to enjoy. My toddler Sophia loved jumping along the stepping stones and running around the maze area under the climbing frame, although she was too scared to go on the slide as you had to cross a rope to get to it.

Towards the back of the room is a big play area for slightly older children which consisted of climbing frames, slides, tunnels and play equipment. Sophia loved this area as she enjoyed going on the slides with her daddy. We visited on a weekday morning and Jungle Jacks was fairly busy but we were still able to get a seat and play on everything.

I really liked the fact that the soft play is for under 8s only as I often find that if we visit soft plays it can be full of older children running around and my toddler gets knocked over or can't get on anything. Jungle Jacks is a great place to visit if you have young children and they are getting bored on a shopping trip, or if you are wanting to meet friends in the city for a catch-up and have your children with you.

Jungle Jacks is open every day 9am-6pm with the last admission at 5pm. It is fairly reasonably priced too with babies under one being free, 1-3 years old cost £4.50 and 4-8-year-olds £5.50 but if you have a leisure centre card then prices are cheaper. They also offer party packages which are priced at £10 per child, full details can be found on the website www.northcountryleisure.org.uk - correct August 2015.

We will defiantly be returning to Jungle Jacks in the near future as Sophia and Jacob loved it and did not want to leave when it was time to go. I am also planning on taking my oldest daughter who is twelve bowling as she enjoys this and I also love the sound of the vertigo adventure climbing as this looks and sounds like lots of fun. So if you are looking for a fun activity to do with your children these holidays why not visit Eldon leisure as I am sure your children will enjoy it just as much as mine did.

Disclosure: We were invited to try Jungle Jacks soft play free of charge for the purpose of this review.
