Learning To Cook Thai At Thaikhun Cooking School

AD

Ever wanted to learn to cook Thai food? Well now you can as Thaikhun have launched a new cooking school. We were invited along to see what it was all about.

Classes are held in Thaikhun restaurants around the country and cost £50 per person, during the class you will learn to make an authentic Thai starter and a main dish which you get to enjoy in the restaurant once cooked. You also get a welcome drink and a goody bag to take home in with the price and classes run for around 2 hours.

Thaikhun Cooking School Metrocentre Review

We have visited Thaikhun before and we love the decor, friendly staff and delicious food so we were looking forward to attending the class.  We arrived at the restaurant at 6.30pm and were greeted with a drink from the bar and introduced to chef Sal who would be teaching us how to cook.

Sal was brilliant she had us all laughing and was really friendly and patient with us all explaining everything in detail and where to buy the best ingredients from. First up we made chicken spring rolls stuffed with minced chicken, noodles and vegetables.

We made three spring rolls which were boxed up ready to take home whilst we enjoyed some already cooked by the chefs, served with some sweet chilli dipping sauce they tasted amazing.

Whilst we enjoyed the starters the cooking area, (which was a separate area in the restaurant away from the kitchen and other customers) was set up ready for us to create our own Thai green curry. In pairs we were giving all the ingredients we would need to create the green curry paste, such as coriander roots, garlic and green chillis to name just a few.

Obviously as the restaurant was open to the public you don't cook in the kitchens and instead, they have little camping rings on the tables for you to use to cook your curry in. Once we had cooked the curries we were able to enjoy them with a side of rice.

After enjoying our meals we were each giving a goody bag and any leftover foods we had made to take home. We did have a good night, everyone in the group was laughing and chatting away and it was a nice way to spend an evening, trying something new.
