Peter Pan Panto At The Tyne Theatre Review

 AD - Invited

Fly away to Neverland this Christmas with Peter Pan at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle. Staring Tyne Theatre panto favourites Lewis Denny and Charlie Richmond along with Eastenders Matt Lapinsky, X Factors Sam Lavery and CBBC's Cleo Demetirou. Last years villan (Gaston last year) actor Micky Cochrane returns this year as baddie Captain Hook and Phoebe Garr is a cheeky Geordie Tinkerbell.

From the moment the lights went down we were in for a treat with an opening Greatest Showman song routine. There was so many great pop songs throughout the show that audience members young and old will recognise and the vocals from the panto stars were spot on.

There is a flying to Neverland scene that is truly magical and one of the best I have seen. We have seen a few Tyne Theatre Pantos over the years and I can honestly say this was the best one yet.

This panto follows the traditional story of Peter Pan along with Charlie Richmond as Smee and Lewis Denny as his mam Mrs Smee. Charlie and Lewis are comedy gold together and bring so much laughter to the show. I honestly loved everything about this panto the cast was fab, costumes amazing, the vocals and songs were flawless, the dancers were brilliant, there was flying, acrobat scenes, audience participation and buckets full of jokes and laughter.

Need To Know

Peter Pan is running at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House until Sunday the 7th of January 2024. Tickets cost from £16.50pp. They also have relaxed and signed performance to book too. You can find out more and book tickets online at www.tynetheatreandoperahouse.uk/ or call into the Tyne Theatre box office.

Running time for the show is around two and a half hours but it did overrun when we visited on opening night. There is a interval during the show where they sell ice cream etc. There is also a bar to buy drinks and sweets, popcorn etc. There was also a stand when you enter selling flashing lights.

As the Tyne theatre is in Newcastle city centre there is plenty of nearby parking or it is just a short walk to the central train station, metro station and bus stops.

What We Thought

Honestly we loved the show, I visited with my three children - aged 21, 10 and 9 and all three of them enjoyed Peter Pan. We all agreed that it was the best pantomime we have seen at the Tyne Theatre and if you are looking for a panto to see in Newcastle this Christmas then Peter Pan at the Tyne Theatre is definitely the one to go to as it is a show not to be missed.
