Places To Eat In Newcastle This Summer

 AD

I love dining out during the summer in Newcastle, so many places have outdoor seating areas to enjoy an alfresco lunch. It also means I don't have to cook in this heat, plus Newcastle normally has great offers on during the summer months, from summer menu's, kids eat free or half price deals to the popular restaurant week where you can snap up some delicious meals for an incredible price.

As a family we often dine out but I also enjoy meals out with my husband or lunch out with my grown-up daughter too. It is so nice to be out enjoying meals again after the pandemic and it is nice to see places busy and back to how they used to be. The great thing about Newcastle is that there is a huge range of amazing restaurants, cafes, street vendors and takeaways to choose from. Everything from afternoon tea, popular chains, family venues, romantic settings for date nights and themed restaurants. There are so many places opening that my list of places to try is huge!

If you are looking for some inspiration on where to dine in Newcastle this summer here is a list of five places that I personally recommend or you can also check out the Square Meal website  that has a list of places with reviews, a booking system and even event venues

Places To Dine In Newcastle

1.) Blackfriars

If anyone asked me where to dine in Newcastle the first place I would recommend would be Blackfriars. It is a believed to be the oldest dining room in the UK dating back to 1239! The venue is stunning, the food is delicious and locally sourced and they do some great set menus and offers. It is one of those places where it can be perfect for a special occasion meal or for a laid back lunch with friends.

You can read all about what we thought of Blackfriars in this old blog post.

2.) The Hustle

We recently visited The Hustle located in the Gate complex in the city centre and we really enjoyed it. The food was amazing value and delicious, the kids meals were some of the best we have ever tried. The staff were dead canny and the location was spot on. I would recommend if your in town this summer and want somewhere for lunch with the children.

3.) Rio Steakhouse

We have never actually visited Rio yet but we are planning on visiting next week for our son's birthday. It is a Brazilian restaurant with locations in Jesmond or the Quayside and it looks great. There is a salad bar and then waiters come around with different meats for you to try. Definitely one to try if you like trying new foods and are a meat fan.

4.) Chaophraya

Chaophraya is located in Eldon Square, on the top floor with views overlooking grey street and greys monument right in the city centre. Thai food is my absolute favourite and Chaophraya is somewhere both myself and my husband love to visit. If you enjoy thai food and want to eat with a view then give Chaophraya a visit.

5.) Miller and Carter

Miller and Carter have restaurants dotted all over the country and there is one in Newcastle or near the racecourse in Gosforth. It can be pricy as its a steak restaurant, but they have lunchtime menus that are good value and the food is nice. Service is always amazing and it is one of those places you can go for any occasion, from a chilled out lunch, special occasion, date night or meal with the kids.

Honestly there are so many great places to dine in Newcastle that I could have listed about 100 places. If your from Newcastle where do you recommend?
