Playmobil Scooby Doo Toy Review

My children aged 5 and 7 adore Scooby-Doo and will often watch it on T.V as it is one of their favourite shows. So when I heard about the new Playmobil Scooby Doo range I knew this would be something that both of them would enjoy playing with and we were kindly sent some of the new toys to try out and see what they both thought. The new range of Scooby-Doo toys are to coincide with the realise of the latest Scooby-Doo film, which will be premiering at home and I am sure my children will ask to pay to download and watch.

Playmobil sent us three toys from the range. We were sent the Mystery Machine, a set with Scooby, Shaggy and a Ghost and four mystery figure blind bags.  The children were super-excited when the box of toys arrived and could not wait to start playing.

Playmobil Mystery Machine

The Mystery Machine (RRP £49.99) was the toy the children were most excited about, as any Scooby-Doo fan would be. The set included the Mystery Machine with accessories and the figures of Fred, Daphne and Velma. When we opened the box there were lots of bags with small parts in to build, which I was dreading (I hate building toys with impatient children around) however it was super quick and simple to fit the bits together with a clear instruction booklet.

The Mystery Machine vehicle looks just like on the film and TV shows and has lots of little play-features inside the vehicle. It lights up (requires one AAA battery), it has tons of monster hunting gadgets and snacks for the gang to enjoy. You can easily remove the roof and the doors so that children can explore the inside of the Mystery Machine and play more easily.

Scooby and Shaggy with Ghost set

This little set includes Scooby-Doo himself with Shaggy and a ghost figure (RRP £12.99). The set also includes a few little accessories like a torch and scooby snacks. It is the perfect addition to play with the Mystery Machine as you couldn't play Scooby Doo without Scooby and Shaggy and a ghost to capture.

Blind Bags

My children absolutely adore blind-bags so were happy to receive four to open. Each bag contains one mystery Playmobil bad guy figure from the Scooby-Doo cartoons. When you open the blind bags you have to build the figures yourself, which my 5-year-old managed to do on his own in a few minutes. The children loved the surprise element of these mystery figures and they liked that they had lots of bad guys for the Scooby-Doo gang to capture in their games. Obviously, as they are mystery bags we did end up with two the same but the children did not mind as it meant they could pretend they were evil twins.

What We Thought

Obviously, as a parent I know how long-lasting Playmobil toys are, I have many fond memories of playing with Playmobil myself as a child many years ago. My own children have had a few Playmobil sets themselves over the years too so it is a toy brand we are familiar with. The children loved that the sets were Scooby-Doo ones as I previously mentioned they are big fans of the show. Both of my children have enjoyed playing with the toys and have spent hours making up games where they hunt down the bad guys in the Mystery Machine and defeat them. I think that they will be toys that they will enjoy playing with for a long time to come.

If you have a Scooby-Doo fan of your own then I do think that they will enjoy these toys as they really capture children's imagination and they will have hours of fun playing with them. I know it is still a while away but I think these would make a great Christmas gift idea too.

Disclosure We were kindly sent these toys for the purpose of this review, however, all opinions are my own.
