Having three children means that we have a lot of stuff! We have so many toys, old children clothing and baby items that we just never use anymore. I keep meaning to sell them but I just never get around to it. So when Mumsnet challenged me to try selling some unwanted items on eBay I thought this was the perfect chance for a bit of a de-clutter, especially with Christmas fast approaching.
I decided to start with selling some of the children's old clothes, mainly party dresses that had only been worn once or twice.
Listing my items for sale was super easy and a lot less time-consuming than I thought it would be. I used my phone to list my items and found it so quick and easy, they also have an app which I have just downloaded and is very user-friendly too.
To list my items I quickly took a few photos on my phone. You can add up to 12 photos of your item for free so adding a few photos of your item from different angles works well.
Once I had taken my photos I added my listing which was really easy as eBay has lots of advice and tips as you go along, such as saying if your description needs more information etc. You can select if your item is used or new and remember to be as descriptive as possible, say where the item is from and what size, colour etc. Also be honest with the condition of the item and if it has something slightly wrong with it make sure you are upfront about it.
Next, you have to decide on a price for your item, the thing I liked was that once I had described my item it came up with suggested prices for my items and I knew what sort of price to start my bidding at and what sort of price I could expect from my items. It will also come up with postage fees, so make sure you are happy with these, so far all of my suggested fees have been correct.
You can also decide on how long you want to list your item for, if you want to add international seller options or not, you can also add buy it now functions too. Once your item is listed you can preview your listing and set it live.
Once your item sells you will get an email notification when the buyer had paid with their delivery details and you just package your item up and post it. It really is that simple.
After selling a few things so easily on eBay I have now got a decluttering bug and I am going to be adding lots of items to eBay over the next few weeks. I really want to free up some space for all the new toys my children will be getting at Christmas and selling lots of unused items is a nice way of making some extra pennies for Santa coming too.
Do you ever sell anything on eBay? Be sure to let me know if you have any tips in the comments below.
