Earlier in the week, I posted all the details about the Cirque Du Soleil tour Varekai, where to buy tickets and what the show was about which you can read about here. Well it is now in Newcastle and we went along to opening night, read on to see what we thought.
I was wowed by the stunts, performances and costumes and I can safely say that Cirque Du Soleil is like nothing that I have ever seen before. The whole performance was faultless and had the audience mesmerised and on the edge of their seats. The show featured amazing acrobatics, balancing acts and trapeze artists to name just a few.
Performers would come down from the air doing the most breath-taking stunts, they would appear from underneath the stage or from within the audience. There was a clown act who would just come out of nowhere. There was always something happening in the background too, with performers on swings or climbing in the forest background of the stage.
After some of the jaw-dropping aerial stunts that had been performed, I honestly did not know how they would end the show but they left the best until last. Ending the show was a troupe of very daring acrobats who jumped and somersaulted from moving Russian swings. They were brilliant!
Before we knew it the two-hour show was over, the time had passed so quickly as it had been such an enjoyable show. As I mentioned I took my teenage daughter with me to see the show and she really enjoyed it. While the show is very family friendly I would probably say it is suited to slightly older children rather than very young ones.
If you are looking for an unforgettable show to enjoy with a group of friends, family or older children then I really do recommend Cirque Du Soleil. It will be in Newcastle until this Sunday (19th) before heading to Leeds (22-26 Feb), Birmingham (1-5 March) Nottingham (8-11 March) and then Glasgow (15-19 March).
