Things To Do This Half-Term

 Collaborative Post

Looking for things to do with the kids this half-term holidays? Well look no further as I have a list of ideas of things to do this October half-term, some Halloween inspired and some without a pumpkin or ghoul in site.

Halloween Events

It wouldn't be October half-term without a few Halloween events so here are a few.

Visit A Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin patches are everywhere these days and are a fun activity that all the family can enjoy. Lots of them have sold out already so be sure to check details online before visiting. Some of the one's I am aware of here in the North East are Brocksbushes near Hexham, East Grange in Durham, Spilmans Farm in North Yorkshire and Paddock Hall / Tea in the Paddock in Northumberland.

Family Fright Fest

We are heading to Family Fright Fest next weekend and I am looking forward to it. Located on the same site as the popular and well known Psychopath event, Family Fright Fest is a family friendly Halloween event. The event is on during the day and features mazes, wizard school, magic shows, a pumpkin patch and fairground rides.

Trick or Treat at Eldon Scare

Eldon Square shopping centre in Newcastle is turning into Eldon Scare (see what they did?) this Halloween and on Saturday 29th October 2022 they are hosting a free Trick or Treat event. Just turn up on the day between 9-4 (no need to book) collect a map and trick or treat bag and off you go trick or treating around participating stores.

None Halloween events.

Carp Fishing

When we asked the children what they wanted to do this half-term break my son asked to go fishing. He has been desperate to go for ages so we are going to see if we can take him carp fishing as I think this would be something different for him to do and it gets him outside in the fresh air which he loves as he is a very outdoors person. He doesn't have any carp fishing gear yet as we want to see if he likes it first.

Horse Riding

My daughter wants to go horse riding as she loves riding and being around the ponies. She does have lessons when we have free weekends but during the holidays lots of riding schools have activity days, lessons and own a pony days which she enjoys. They are also ideal for children who want to get into horse riding.

Indoor Activities

The kids are off school so you can guarantee the great British weather will keep up with tradition and rain at some point during the week. So it is always best to have some indoor ideas handy. We normally visit the cinema but there doesn't seem to be much on lately. We have plans to visit clip and climb, go bowling, swimming and visit a trampoline park. The children also want to visit a indoor mini golf course and go pottery painting too.

Those are just some of the ideas of we have for the October half term holiday's this year. If you have anything planned be sure to let me know in the comments below.
