We are big fans of Toby carvery, it has been a few months since we last visited so we were long overdue a visit. And let's be honest at this time of year when the weather is cold and miserable you just can't beat a nice carvery with lashings of gravy. So we headed to our local one in Shiremoor, North Tyneside on Thursday for lunch.
Toby Carvery have recently launched a new menu and now they have dishes such as Yorkshire pudding wraps, taster starters and freak-shake milkshakes to accompany their famous four roasts carvery.
The thing I love about Toby is that they always have a choice of four roast meats to choose from, Turkey, Gammon, Beef and Pork and you can either just pick one or two meats or a little bit of all four if you fancy. We all picked different meat combinations, I went for Turkey which was delicious and juicy, not at all dry.
We all piled our plates with the huge Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast potatoes and parsnips, mash and vegetables and poured on plenty of rich gravy. Everything was delicious, the roast potatoes were really crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The mash was creamy, veg nicely cooked and the Yorkshire puddings and gravy were perfect as always.
The children demolished their meals, the meat, Yorkshire puddings and carrots were cleared from their plates in no time at all.
We were all suitably stuffed from such a delicious and filling roast but we decided to order desserts - for research purposes of course. We opted for a Munchie sundae and a cheesecake to share with the children. Desserts were a good portion size and very tasty, so much so that the children ended up eating most of them.
The service we received was brilliant from our server's James and Katie, they were really friendly and brilliant with the children. I was really impressed because they did not know that we were there to review so we received the same service a regular customer would.
For four of us, two adults and two children (aged 3 & 4) it came to £38 for a carvery each, a cheesecake and munchie sundae dessert, two refillable adult soft drinks and two children's fruit shoots. Adult weekday regular carvery was just £6.49 which is amazing value and children's are priced at £4.45.

We love our local toby carvery. I go there with my friends for dinner when we have time to meet. We use to go as a family all the time but finding something for the boys with their dietary requirements is pretty difficult. xx
ReplyDeleteThat is shame, hopefully they will introduce more foods that are suitable for them in future x
