Travel Plans For 2020

Collaborative Post

As 2019 comes to an end I have already started thinking about 2020 and one thing we really want to do is travel more as a family now the children are a bit older (and easier to handle). This year we were unable to have a family holiday as we went over-budget on our wedding so we really want to make up for it next year and hopefully get a few trips in to make up for missing a holiday this year.

So far we have a two week holiday to Corfu in Greece booked for in the summer which we are all really looking forward too. I can't wait for lazy days by the pool or at the beach as well as days out exploring the local areas of  Kassiopi and Palaiokastritsa which look dreamy and of course a day of shopping in the charming old town.

We also really want to take the children to Euro Disney and to explore Paris, we are thinking of going for the teens 18th birthday in autumn as she loves Euro Disney and has been twice before. We are just trying to decide if we should stay onsite which is rather pricy as we need two rooms or stay off-site and explore Paris as well as I have always wanted to visit. Staying somewhere like a  serviced apartments in Paris works out a lot cheaper than a hotel room for five of us.

We have also been thinking of taking a mini-cruise to Amsterdam as you can go fairly cheaply from Newcastle on the two-night mini-cruises with DFDS. We have always wanted to go on a one but we have never been sure if they would be suitable for the children but I think now they are a little bit older it would be an adventure for them.

The teen also wants to have a shopping and theatre trip to London and we want to try and squeeze in a visit to the Harry Potter studio tour too. When she was younger we visited London and visited all the sites like Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, Santa at Hamleys, The London Eye and Buckingham Palace and we had a brilliant time. We stayed in Kensington which was perfect for getting around the city and I think we would probably stay in the same area again when we re-visit so I need to start looking for accommodation in London

I am also planning a trip to Dublin with my dad to see his family as his dad was from Dublin and all of his family still live there. I visited as a child and have always wanted to go back as an adult so I am really looking forward to re-visiting.

The teen also really wants to visit Poland next year, we have been thinking of going for a couple of days if we can get some cheap flights and accommodation and the other half can get time off work to watch the little two. She really wants to visit Auschwitz but I honestly don't know if I could face it as I imagine it is such a sad place.

Lastly, we have been thinking of taking the children somewhere in the summer for a weekend away to a theme park or attraction. We are not sure where yet and it will probably be a last-minute thing but hopefully we will find somewhere to go.

Have you got any travel plans for 2020? If so I would love to know where you are off to in the comments below.

  1. Ah these are great plans Lindsay and it's really making me want to go away. We've got a trip planned for Easter - a cruise, which is something that I've always wanted to do. And we're thinking of going to Slovenia in May or June if we can. There are so many places I want to visit - I think a couple of staycations would also be great or maybe a quick overnight spa stay once or twice this year ...

    1. Oh wow a cruise will be lovely, I hope you have a wonderful time. Slovenia sounds brill too - that is not somewhere I would have ever thought about visiting, not sure why xx

Thank you for commenting I read and reply to every single one.
