Things I Loved March 2019

March has been and gone and I have to say it was a bit of a strange month for us, it had a few good things, lots of illness and plenty of wedding planning. March started off well for us and we have had a few meals out, a few days out, we ticked a few things off our huge wedding to-do list and the little two have had a nice month with no illness. However both myself, my teen and other half have been unwell with my teen and other half both ending up in hospital. The other half ended up in hospital at the start of the month with kidney stones, then I fell ill with flu which wiped me out for almost two weeks and then my teen ended up in the hospital with her asthma . I feel like I am so behind on everything and like I have hardly blogged due to all the illness we have had.

Anyway, March was not all bad and was busier than February so here are some of the things that I have loved this month.

1.) World Book Day

The little two loved dressing up for World Book Day this year, they missed it last year as they were off school with chicken pox so they were excited for it this year. I was kindly sent some outfits for them from Asda and Sophia dressed up as Harry Potter, (she is a huge HP fan) and Jacob was 'Where's Wally'. They looked adorable in the costumes and stayed dressed up even when they got home.

2.) Good Parents Evenings

All three children had parents evenings this month and thankfully they are all doing well at school, my eldest is on course to doing well in her GCSEs this summer. Jacob is doing amazing at school as he wants to learn and his reading is just blowing us all away, you wouldn't think he was one of the youngest in his class. Sophia is doing ok too, she is getting the help she needs for her speech as her speech delay impacts on her work but she is trying hard and enjoying school and is not as wild anymore.

3.) 6th Form Place

My eldest is leaving school this summer after her GCSEs, she has no idea what she wants to do job wise in the future and has been unsure about what to do after school for a long time. A few months ago her school encouraged her to apply for 6th form at a different school and after an interview, we found out that she been offered a place to study History, fine art and sociology. Obviously, she needs to pass her GCSEs first but as long as she does well she will be off to study her A-Levels in September and  I feel relieved knowing she is carrying on her with her education until she decides what she wants to do in life.

4.) Tattooist Of Auschwitz Book

I have seen so many people mention this book recently so I decided to buy a copy and I was gripped. It is based on a true story so obviously, it is a bit harrowing reading about what went on in Auschwitz but it is also a story of love and hope. It is one of those rare books that stay with you long after you have read them and I recommend a read if you get the chance.

5.) Paid Registrar & Got Rings

This month I have paid the registrar off for our wedding in a few months, I love when we pay something off for the wedding as it is one less thing to worry about. We still need to pick vows and all of that but the registrar and marriage fees are all paid off now so we can legally get married. We also went and got our wedding rings this month too, we have to wait a few weeks for them to arrive in the shop but they are all ordered and paid for. The wedding is starting to feel ever so real now!

6.) Mothers Day

Mothers Day is always such a bittersweet day for me, I find it hard seeing all the cards and gifts in the shops in the lead up to Mothers day as it just highlights more than ever that I don't have a Mam anymore. I avoid social media on the day it's self too as it is too sad seeing all the mothers day posts and photos. However, I am also a Mam so I try not to get sad as the kids do try and make the day nice for me. This year they got me gifts and I had a day off from cooking and cleaning and a lie in which was nice.

7.) Spa Day

I went on a spa day with my brother's partner last week which was nice, we went to the Village hotel which is about half an hour away and somewhere I had never been before (apart from to a wedding). It was nice to relax with a coffee and get my nails painted, however, we didn't get a chance to use all of the facilities which was a shame.

8.) Toby Carvery

We were invited to review Toby Carvery at the weekend, I love a Toby carvery and we hadn't had one in a while. The meal wasn't the best we have had (look out for a review) but what we did have was nice and it was nice to have a roast without having all the dishes to wash afterwards.

9.) Line Of Duty

When I was unwell recently I binge watched Line of Duty on Netflix ready for the new series starting last weekend. I had never seen the show before but I absolutely loved it and watched all four series within a few days. I am looking forward to seeing what series 5 is like.

10.) I Was In A Magazine (again)

I have been writing a bride to be diary each month for Your North East Wedding magazine and this month was the first issue I was published in. It was a bit weird seeing a photo of myself in a magazine but it will be nice to look back on someday. (I have previously been in Mother & Baby magazine as I used to do product tests for them.)

So those are some of the things that I have loved in March, how was your March?

This is a collaborative post.

  2. We have been binge watching Line of Duty and have done all four series in the last couple of weeks. Good luck to the teen with History, fine art and sociology - not the easiest subjects to choose
