Things I Loved June 2018

Summer is well and truly here as we have been enjoying lots of lovely sunshine (I hope I don't jinx things by saying that) and it is almost time for the long-awaited summer holidays. Now it is July it is time for me to write about some of the things that I have loved from the month gone by, a sort of happy list. June was an okay month for us, it was not as amazing as May had been but it was not a bad month either.

So here are some of the things that I have loved in June 2018.

hook the duck at the fair

1.) Fun at the Fair

At the start of the month, we had a family day out at the local fair with the children and their cousins. It was a nice sunny day and the children had great fun going on the rides and playing hook-the-duck. Sophia won a goldfish who she named Goldie, typically it died the next day though. It was a nice day out and the children really enjoyed the rides, so much so that we are planning a theme park visit for Jacobs 4th birthday next month.

2.) Love Island

I am hooked on Love Island, I started watching it half-way through last year and liked it but this year I love it! I don't know what it is but I just can't stop watching it and look forward to 9pm every night when it is on TV. It really makes me miss Majorca though as we there in May and I so want to return every night when I watch Love Island.

3.) The Other Halfs Birthday

The other half turned 29, on Fathers Day of all days, so I had to get him two lots of gifts from the children. We did not actually do anything on his birthday as he was meant to be in France for Le Mans but had to drop out at the last minute due to starting his new role at work. I will be taking him out for a nice meal as soon as we can arrange a babysitter for the evening.

4.) Test Driving A Car

Last week were sent a Nissan Leaf electric car to try out and I actually really liked it. I can't drive (I so need to learn) but even as a passenger it was a nice car. We would never have considered an electric car before test driving this one but now I actually would consider getting a one in the future.

5.) After School Clubs

Lately, the children have been doing a few after-school activities, Sophia does girls football on a weekend and now the little two also do Ninjas Kickboxing which they seem to enjoy. Sophia will also be starting Rainbows in September and we are thinking about starting horse riding lessons for her too. I really want them both to start swimming lessons but finding a class they can join is proving difficult as there are such big waiting lists everywhere.

6.) Warm Weather

I am really enjoying the warmer weather we are having, it is nice to actually have a summer for once as last year was a total washout. The children love being outdoors in the garden and it is nice to have the windows open and the washing on the line (I sound so old saying that). Hopefully, the sun sticks around for a bit longer so we can enjoy some family days out in the sunshine.

7.) Cirque Berserk

Myself and my teen went to see Cirque Berserk at the Tyne Theater last week and we really enjoyed it. It was full of daredevil stunts, ariel acrobats, dancing, slapstick humour and jaw-dropping moments. It was nice to spend some one on one time with my eldest too.

8.) Pizzastorm

As a family, we have visited Pizzastorm a few times over the past year and it is somewhere we enjoy visiting. On Friday Sophia had a dental hospital appointment so we visited Pizzastorm with her as pizza is one of her favourite foods. It was nice to spend some time with Sophia on her own and it was nice to have a laid-back family lunch out with her.

9.) Family Weekends

Since the other half changed job roles last month he gets weekends off, which is so much better for us as a family. It is nice to have weekends together, we have had a few days out and we normally spend Sunday's at home just chilling out and enjoying a roast dinner. It is so nice having weekends of family time to look forward to each week and we can actually make plans now.

10.) 1 Year To My Wedding

I am now on wedding countdown as next June I will be getting married. We booked the wedding last June and I can not believe how fast the past year has flown over, my wedding day will be here before I know it! I still have so much to organise but I am looking forward to getting stuck into wedding planning properly over the coming months.

So those are some of the things that I have loved from the month gone by, we have had a few days out, lots of family weekends enjoying the sunshine and the other half celebrated his birthday. Hopefully, the sun will continue to shine in July and we can have more family days out as the children will be breaking up from school.

What made you happy in June?

  5. It sounds like a lovely month - I think I must be the only person in the UK not watching Love Island! My mum's got a Nissan Leaf and really likes it - I'd get one if we could afford it! Sorry for the super late commenting btw :) #LittleLoves
