Updating Our Bedrooms For Spring

In November 2017 we moved into our forever family home, we know that this is going to be the house that our children grow up in and we all love living here. However we moved in knowing that it would need a lot of work doing to it, we live in a 1950's semi that was still very much stuck in the 1950's. Since moving we have done some work to the house, we have a new kitchen and bathroom, we have given the bedrooms a lick of paint and fitted new blinds and carpets but we still have so much still to do. Eventually, we want to add a loft conversion and extend the kitchen - as our kitchen is tiny. However, we know these things cost a lot of money and will take time as we have a wedding to save for first - eeek!

I don't know what it is about Spring but I always want to have a big de-clutter of the house and get started on decorating and sorting the house out. This year we are planning on doing some little jobs around the house and we will be concentrating on the bedrooms.  My teen's bedroom is finished she could just do with some new bedroom furniture and she wants some new pink bedroom curtains, to match her pink walls - like these ones from Direct Blinds. Then her room will be complete, well until she changes her mind on how she wants her room again! Does anyone else's teen do that or just mine?

My bedroom just needs some finishing touches such as some new bedside tables, bedding and accessories to make it more homely as it very plain and unloved at the moment. I want to make it somewhere that we want to spend time as we only use it for sleeping at the moment as it really boring with magnolia walls, a bed and chest of drawers. I want to brighten it up a bit and make it fresh and welcoming with some white furniture, crisp white bedsheets, bright prints and accessories and much more 'us'.

The little two children share the master bedroom and I can't wait to get started on this room. They have plain white walls at the moment but we are planning on giving it another lick of paint as it is looking a bit grubby due to sticky fingers. I also plan on getting some new bright curtains as they currently have grey blackout ones, I also want lots of bright prints and quotes for their walls. We plan on replacing their single beds with white wooden bunk beds and using the extra space as an extra play area for them, I have spied so many cool ideas over on Pinterest. I think I will be adding a reading corner as they both adore books and have a bookshelf brimming with much-loved stories.

Hopefully, we will have the bedrooms all finished over the next few months and then that will be upstairs of our house complete. We are planning on working in the garden over the summer, making a play area for the children and a nice grown-up area for family BBQs too. Then in the winter/ early next year, we will be getting the lounge/ dining room decorated and then probably after the wedding next year we want new sofas and furniture. Then our house will (hopefully) be finished and we can save for our extensions in a few years time.

Are you planning on updating your home for spring?

  2. Aw it takes forever to get things how you want them doesn't it? And once you get it done, you need to start again. But the wedding is so much for exciting xx

  3. It takes such a long time to do things. It seems to never end. I love when you've done something, but it always highlights others. I need to do things in the spring. I tend to do this when it's November and it's so the wrong time xx
